12volt wallwart power supply reading 14.6 ? (help)

Hi, all I just purchased a 12 volt 1500mah wallwart power supply for my apache, when I checked the no load voltage it reads 14.6.The apache instructions state not to use anything over 13.8 will this be o.k? Is this a normal reading with no load? Thanks a bunch!!!

Put a load on that baby and the voltage will drop. How much is debatable but will probably get you to the voltage you need.

They all do that. Should work just fine....

Perfectly normal. The wall wart only produces the rated voltage at the rated current draw. At lower currents, the voltage is higher, and at higher currents, the voltage is lower. It's just like a NiCd.

So a guy was worried about the voltage of his 1.5A wall-wart being too high, and 14 years later you tell him how to increase the voltage in a server power supply?
