I agree Ken, even though I have the SBUS rx, it's very limited now. Hopefully I can assign a switch to use one or the other, because I like both the carefree and the pitch control.

Yes I agree, one way round it would be for DJi to allow use of X1 and have the power module used on a Y-lead in to the same socket, thus still being able to messure voltage and get power..

I'd like to do more testing today but it's been pouring rain with fairly high wind all day, have to wait until tomorrow at the earliest. |

I just had my first well almost perfect first flight, running the latest 5.02 FW, MK Hexa XL custom build with Avroto M2814's and Maytech 30amp ESC's. APC 11x4.7, Aurora 9 transmitter.
2 problems I am having. I am flying in "Intelligent mode" GPS, and Home lock on. So after I execute the CSC the motors turn on for 3 seconds and if I don't apply throttle they shut off which is correct, my problem is there is still a little to much thrust when my throttle stick is all the way down before the motors cut off. Where would I adjust this? Do I need to do a custom throttle curve on my transmitter? Right now it is just a linear curve or is there something else I am missing? Besides that my first flight went ok, I have all my AUTOPILOT stuff set at default, when the copter hovers there is a little twitch, what would be the first thing I should look at changing in the "Basic Gains" Thanks everyone Steve |

I finally managed to get the video uploaded between network outages. It's easy to see there is still some tiny amount of twitchiness in the roll axis at times and I'm not entirely sure where it's coming from. Is it an artifact of the gimbal motion problem, is it the WKM being a little too eager to try and compensate for small disstrubances of the airframe, are the isolation mounts on the CS setup a little too soft allowing the whole camera mount to rock back and forth slightly...?
The good news is that the new setup appears to handle wind much better, once it's up above the treetops you can hear some upper level wind in the audio and there's hardly any shaking or twitching in response and the whole ascent/descent was done in GPS mode. I think a large part of that is due to the Maytech ESC upgrade because it was never that steady with the previous ESCs even when they had the reflashed firmware.

Got my WKM mounted on my F450 frame with Data Link. I did some video on the installation and will continue with the setup for View and Click and go. Stay tuned.

As seen in the video, I also had a mysterious white double flash. I happened to see this once when I was flying yesterday, as well. I have never seen this except since I switched to this v5.02 version, but that could just be a coincidence. Anyway, the drift problem remains. -- Gary |

has anyone had any luck building a X-8 to lift a DSLR yet?
I am contemplating going X8 instead of traditional 8 rotor... I am curious to see what kind of flight characteristics DJI has on an X8... if it's anything like the Y-6 video's I see it should be good. thoughts? Steve |

It makes it easier to fly as its always from the perspective from where you are standing. No matter which way the quad is facing, the forward, back left and right motion on the sitcks is from your perspective. Home lock is similar but does it from the point where you enable home lock. So regardless of the quad's orientation in the air, pull back on the stick and it will come back towards you. |
