Thats the first thing I did to my gps's back when I got them. I agree, DJI should make that standard.

Made two changes to the hex today.

I added a cf sheet under the GPS and upgraded to 5.16.

First flight was beautiful - no flashes, very smooth.

Second flight I had a home lock and only 1 or 2 red flashes so I took off. Red flashes never went away - near the end of the flight it started drifting, sometimes pretty hard. Not a big deal - just went into atti mode and landed.

3rd flight (after powering down and then back up) I had a home lock and GPS was perfect the whole time.

Don't know what happened in flight 2, but I will be sure there are no flashes at all before I take off.

5.16 does seem to fly much smoother. Overall happy. And now at least I stand a fighting chance with a motor loss!

I don't like any more GPS flight like you.

Like you, with 5.14 and the new one 5.16 with good GPS condition (not red flash) after some time I can see some big drift that stop as I go to ATTI.

May be that because I flight GPS ..... not normally.

I explain:

When NO red flash, I go to GPS mode; good flight, no problem ...... and WITHOUT leaving the GPS mode, I make some displacement (Forward/backward or Left/right changes). In this situation, some drift appear some time when I am returned with no mouvement.

I think GPS mode don't like these axis modification .....

No problem at all in ATTI mode; just some drift some time to time in GPS mode.

Don't like GPS mode any more.

5.16 = Drifts in GPS mode ?

Yes.

But not a slow drift, a fast drift (backward, forward) or a sudden yaw in my case, as I describe my own flying mode.

By the way, do you think that moving like me backward, forward during GPS mode must be prohibited?

I have an Octo with 5.14 that is super slick in GPS mode it doesn`t move an inch, but just finished an S800 build and using 5.16 I had lots of white flashes to start with but that is only a case of adjusting the parameters in the mounting menu to solve that, which has been done and the white flashes have nearly gone altogether but still not as smooth and accurate as the Octo? I will continue testing until it is nearly perfect and post here how it was acheived..

The only thing that has been confirmed is that one person had an issue, if your not sure, wait a few days until a lot more people install it and then decide.

Did a quick test flight with 5.16 and it flew much better. Not sure if it's still doing white flashes, my LED indicator only flashes green. I'm seeing about getting it replaced. I'll upload the footage for anyone interested.

That grub screw idea should have being there from day one.
It's in frame manual to use thread lock every rc person must have a bottle.

I read Dji was telling folks to rotate the GPS compass to fix drifting or toilet bowling.
This grub screw idea would make tweaking compass more easier.
Totally agree.

Also, just a thought, how many after upgrading alter back to default settings , then re set the gains ?

i was told always to do this after an upgrade, re-set all settings back to default, and re do all your gains again if needed.
