I was looking at the radar during the day and it looks like the heaviest rain stayed just to the south of the field. So light winds and unstable air make for tight scores with the current light weight F3j models.

Check out round 4, group 1.

9:56.24 100
9:55.38 100
9:55.36 100
9:55.1 100
9:53.9 100

Actually round 4 had 10 out of 36 scores with 100 landings.

Looks like they should have more of a challenge tomorrow with the winds coming up in the afternoon. Sunday should be fun with high winds.....

F3j

Yeah. Maybe the winds, sun and warmer temperatures will negate some of the effects of having a mini Mt. Vesuvius in the fly zone.

Unstable air??? More like house thermal......14 million btu's withing reach of a 1 ish second tow is more like it. Too bad too cuz, the scores should have a LOT more separation than they do now. Huge props go to the ESL guys who would not go to the torch. Josh and Neal were always working hard way downwind from the torch. Well out of its influence. Great flying guys.

For me it was great landing practice, but I still manage to be a little less accurate than I wanted to be. TK is flying well...Watch out for Jody Miller, he is really doing well in the LZ.

If the wind comes up, and blows with a westerly component, it will make that save a tad harder to rely on.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. More rain likely, so we will get wet again.

The IRKS guys are putting in a lot of work running this event. Thanks Gordon and gang. Phil Renaud, our CD is doing an fantastic job of running the event. Thank you Phil....

Time to charge some plane and hit the hay.

Follow along with the link that Paul posted.

Cheers.

Mike
