Engine sound generator

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone had a circuit schematic for an engine sound effect generator which is cheap and easy to build. I know commercial ones cost a fortune and I`d rather save some pennies, thanks for any help.

Given it'a simple tone generator based on 555 PWMs, it'll sound anything but an engine

Devices simulating engine sounds are much more complex, in the loop tone they have a real recording of engine sound or at least a tweaked sound on computer programs, so I'd think you need microcontrollers.

The simplest DIY would probably employ a direct sound recording IC, available from a few companies.

Here is a DIY example
