Micko Scale Hawker Hurricane

I recently stumbled across Derek Micko (D-Rock) and his amazing Hawker Hurricane thread

As a result, i decided i wanted to make one.

So as we stand atm:

Short Kit (currently in transit from Mozano Laser) cheers Charlie

Motor/adaptor/prop (12*8) have just arrived from Giant Cod

3 inch spinner, electric retracts, and wheels, are on route from Hobby King

I will be sheeting the forward fuselage infront of the cockpit, and probably the wing LE to produce a more scale effect.
Hopefully with contest grade Balsa, it shouldn't add much weight.

Motor is a 35-48-900Kv turnigy CLONE, ESC undecided as of yet.

I'm just making some room on the Board, and will be cracking on, as soon as it arrives :-)

Hi Kiwi,

Sorry about that, though as the Hunter is one of my all time favourites, i may well have to design and build my own in a similar style... what do you think?

Paul... glad to hear it :-)

Thyzoon, nice to have you onboard

Cheers Colonel Blink,

Unfortunately it is likely to be at least another week till any more bits turn up but in the mean time, i have been thinking about sheeting.

My plan is to sheet the front section of the model, and the LE up to the first or second top stringer. I'm trying to decide on wood thickness... my current feeling is 1/16th contest grade. This should produce a scale effect, and stiffer structure for not a great deal more weight

Nearly here :-)

I just learnt todat that customs have released the kit (they've had it 5 days) so i should be getting it soon :-)

Definately looking forward to it. i just get the feeling, it may well beat the electric retracts and other bits here :-(

Actually Just learnt, the Post office have it, but won't give it up, untill i go hand over some fee (i guess customs decided i'd better pay some import :-( and an 8 Royal mail 'Admin fee what a joke)

Does make you wonder what the GPO's hourly charge rate is... I suppose three or four chaps have held it long enough to read the label and chuck it in a bag... then they have to allot a minute or two to getting the money... perhaps all the rest of the time is spent laughing?

Mind you I did have to pay the same fee more than five years ago for an Astro charger, so it hasn't gone up recently. Does that make you feel better?

I thought not!

Yeah, quite probably (or rolling in the money!)

Well, the good news, is that after a total fee of 23 ish, i finally have my hands on it :-)

I must say it is well packed and seems to have survived the journey and customs ok :-)

now waiting for the electric retracts, and spinner etc to turn up.

Plan looks good, so i'll start identifying the laser cut bits to tomorrow

i used the Turnigy 60 on my Hurricane. It has a 3A Bec, no issues at all, run cold with almost identical setup at 42 amps.
My Hurry requires 2 - 2200/3S 25C batteries in mine shoved up almost touching the motor for balance! It still climbs under full throttle, but trimmed for 1/2, it flies great! I think I'll add an ounce of lead on the nose, other wise I'll need another degree of downthrust from stock.
She actually comes out fairly tough for its light weight. i screwed up on my last landing in very stiff crosswind, planted her in the weeds. Result was a busted spar, covering, about an hour repair. no damage to anything else! That was her 13th flight by the way. She like to flown in calmer conditions. FWIW Doug B
