Tony
Trick is to start high first, and bail out out high as well. Then, slowly go lower and lower. When you do upright boomerangs, it not such a problem because worst case, if you feel you're too low for a safe bail out, you simply let it land, if you're on grass. It's coming so slow, you'll not damage it at all. The cycle is then: go up, upright boomerangs, land, pick-up. Rinse and repeat!

Just make sure there's no kid with you when you start practicing those upright boomerangs, as you may swear a little when you still end up inverted most of the time at the beginning!

I believe the inverted boomerang is the easier of the two. Its the upright boomeranges I had a hard time with.

Ive actually landed it in an inverted boomerang, i would say it will always be fine, but that one time i had no damage.

It's not always easy to tell if it's upright or not when it's spinning so fast.

Let the rudders go to centered, and it slows right down. (at least inverted...I've never been able to do the upright boomerang (great wailing and gnashing of teeth!))

From my experience, when you try to slow it, it does fall down a lot faster. One of the beauty of a boomerang is how slow it does fall. Not sure what is the principle behind it, but the faster it spin, the slower it goes down. (still doesn't make much sense to me! )

I guess the faster it spins the more the wing makes some lift slowing the descent.

Hi guys,
I am an rc truck guy and am new to aircraft. I already have a trainer that I'm getting a bit bored with and fell in love with the new Stryker 180.
I just ordered my Stryker and I think I read all the posts in this thread. I find it amazing how much knowledge there is to acquire here!!!
I have a spektrum dx5e and I read in the manual ( borrowed it from one of my friends ) that it is not recommended to use this remote since I won't be able to use all the potential of the stryker.
I know this will sound silly for you guys but could someone explain to me what exactly is the advantage of having the option of adjusting the exponential on a remote

Thank you!

The dx5e can activate about 15% expo, go to the hyper taxi manual on horizons website. Expo changes the affect of the stick on the control surface, makes it less sensitive near the center of the stick, and more re-active at the end of the stick, this way its more smooth near the center but you still get full control surface movement, The stryker 180 is a 3D plane, the controls will be EXTREMELY sensitive and you'll over control and crash. Honestly you should fly an aileron trainer before you fly the stryker, like the UM T-28. What is the trainer you have?

It has Delta Wing mixing capability, noted on the Overview page on their site. With 15% expo, and the lower resolution it would be less than ideal to try to fly the S180 on a DX5e I would think. I am with airpower, not saying it is a for sure, but as a second plane, using a DX5e, unless a person is exception and has a LOT of stick time on a Simulator, I suspect this will not end well. You never know. Low rates, launch and get it high, slowly ease towards more aggressive speed and maneuvers and you might be able to make it work, just saying the odds would say that you will need a lot of CA ...

Let us know what you decide and how it works out Gabriel.
