Yes, frsky-rc.com has been unavailable for the last day or so. I'll be back soon if I dare guess

I have no friends
Get ready for a dumb question, but I assume by FASST they are Futaba compatible?

@mt 100:
No dumb questions

Yes, "FASST compatible" means they work with Futabas FASST tx'es. I've used the TFR8s with my Futaba 10C without a single hickup, so my hopes are high for the new TFR4 and TFR6.

IANAL, but my guess they are called "FASST compatible", not simply "FASST", for trademark reasons. Same for the Spektrum compatibles now also coming out of China - although some of the Spektrum ones are allegedly outright clones of the brand name ones.

FWIW, The TFR6 I've seen in stock online was about $35 - or about one thrid to half of the equivalent R617FS 7ch Futaba FASST rx. Guessing the price will drop once the initial market demand settles somewhat...

Funny thing is:

If you read the spec-sheet on any of the FrSky TF-series rx'es, they explicitly state that in addition to the Futaba modules they are also compatible with "FrSky: TF-8M and TF-14M" modules.

Never seen those modules. Yet, that is...

My guess is there is an 8 channel module (regular Futaba module casing) and a 14-channel module (12FG + 14MZ module casing) hidden somewhere deep in the FrSky R&D department. Only time will tell if they will ever be made available. Chances are however, getting slimmer with every Futaba transmitter release. None of the newer releases (10CG and up) support a module, so the Futaba module radio sadly seems to be a dying breed...

TFR6'es have been restocked at least one place online, so they should be starting to put these out in numbers now. But I have not yet seen the TFR4 available for purchase anywhere.

Looking at the FrSky webpage, the TFR6 is also listed as "available" under one graphic, while there is no such availability indication for the TFR4. Might be we're seeing a delay in the production of the TFR4. The smaller 4channel TFR4 was really, the more interesting of the two - at least for me.

TFR4's seems to be delayed until september 2011.

First indications on TFR4 pricing is more or less identical to the TFR6.

Missed that, according to the spec, the TFR4 will work with both Air and surface Futaba 2.4GHz systems! Whether there will be two different versions, or one version handling both, remains to be seen.
