Ideal Battery weight range?

Would someone please tell me what weight range is ideal for having some play when balancing the plane?

I have not flown in a while and my blue/white 60" is begging to be built. I have read a good bit of the thread, and I am struggling to pull together enough info to choose batteries.

I have a v2 motor and 80amp phoenix with separate BEC. I plan to go zoar 16 x 8.

If you feel you have truly mastered this issue then please explain to me your conclusions!!! Thanks!!!!

The plane is designed for 6s 3300 packs and most guys don't have any trouble balancing the plane using those.

Personally I run 6s 3850 packs, and those are the heavier 65C jobs. I've got an ounce bolted to the tailwheel bracket and the pack all the way back, but it flies awesome like that.

I'de say get a 6s 3300 pack and you'll balance fine. I have not seen anyone running the recommended packs having to add any weight.

Since you have not flown in awhile, balance at the forward measurment given in the manual (and use low rates) until you are comfortable and confident. Then you can start moving it back until you get to where you want it....or leave it alone if you want.

I run the V2 and the same prop, but with the Airboss 80 ESC. It's an awesome set up. Make sure you set your Phoenix up to run the servos on 6 volts.

I don't think you can ever truely master any issue with these things. That's why we still occasionally crash them.

Unfortunately my airboss esc popped while bench testing, it was an old version with the bec at 5.2 volts. The bec is still functioning, but the esc is not supplying any power to the motor.
I bought the kit through my local dealer here in Pakistan, i don't think ill get a replacement or anything from them. Is their any warranty i can claim, i can send the ESC to the US, if extreme flight repairs or replaces them at an additional cost.
Any help or advice would be highly appreciated, kind of disappointed as the maiden was supposed to take place today.

Just got back from flying... The Extra draws super clean lines and I felt comfortable with it on the first flight. Post stall was even better then I thought... not as stable as the edge but surprisingly close. I put 10 flights on it and I already know its a keeper... giving me more reason to want the 91" Extra. I think I have some footage from the GoPro and if it turned out video will follow.

Edit: Well no video from this one... a lot of the video the plane was out of frame. Will make one soon.

This is a compilation, but we haven't had any Extra video for while. It's blowing 30mph right now, so there won't be anything new today from florida.

Crank it up for best effect....................

I've been meaning to get some footage of the 60" Extra but our 3 year old daughter decided our camcorder needed a cleaning a few months ago

Was out at the Electric club the other day and had a couple guys come over from the hospital to watch. They caught a downline to blender though the high fog ceiling I guess.

Well was able to get the plane in the video this morning... but the weather wasn't the best. I am really liking this plane. I do wan't to fly it faster then all my other planes. Will definitely get some better video when I get some more time under my belt with her... oh and nicer weather to.
Watch in 720p.
