There are so many possible combos of motor , speed controls , batterys , air temps , altitude ,ect ect ect , you almost have to try the different props to see how it works in YOUR setup , i fly mine with the 714 kv motor , a 15x7 falcon wood prop from adc hobbystore ,4s 4000 mah 25c gens ace packs ,cobra 80 amp speed control , more than enough power , long flight times and motor comes down just barely warm , what else would one want ?

Thanks Oz. I have the recommended torque motor, and have been running a 15x6 xoar prop using 4000 mah batteries, leaving a lot of mah in the packs. I'm trying to figure out how much more current I'll draw WOT with a 15x7. I have a power meter coming, which will allow me to easily measure this at home.

If your running the recommended setup. 15x7 xoar will pull app 1450 watts @ less than 70amp!

Im flying 7 hard, and fast minutes with 3600mah packs. depleting 2400-2600mah..

Be careful with the 16x8, tried it out today and my airboss was pulsing, came down and hooked it up to a meter, was pulling 80a and just over half throttle. I adjusted my throttle down to 40% and the airboss is still coming down pretty warm. If I'm going to use the 16x8, I'll probably get a different speed controller.

The ESC will get hotter at 40% than at 100%. At 40%, the FETs are going though high current/high resistance states more frequently than if you're at WOT. At least that is the theory: At WOT on an overpropped plane, motors get hot, at 50%, the ESC will get hot.

Hey Tim,

What 3600's are you running?

Curious as I have some Haiyin 3600's that are coming on the Brown truck sometime today.

Any issues with setting CG? Other useful tidbits you can share about them?

Thanks,

JC

EDIT - Brown truck arrived. Batteries are here! Should have plane finished and ready to maiden this weekend. Woo Hoo

At 100% the motor was fine but the esc was pulsing after about 4 minutes of flight. At 40% I ran it hard for 5 minutes and it pulses again, brought it down and the motor is 92 degrees and the esc was 140. Might be too much prop for this esc...
