Glow in Gasser

HI,
I'm starting a conversion of this Glow Motor in gasser:
http://www.helikraft.com/All+Engines...289612%29.html
- important thing it has Dual needle carburetor with a heat insulator, important cause heating carburetors change mixture air/gas no good in flying.
the second i ordered:
http://www.himodel.com/engines/Rcexl...120degree.html
http://www.himodel.com/engines/D3x3m...nsor_4pcs.html
http://www.himodel.com/engines/Rcexl...park_Plug.html

Ill put magnet on fan 28 (misured on the magnet inner diameterr and sensor) before (start spark) when piston is on the top of his course. 40 if misured from the outer diameter of magnet. look at: http://www.justengines.co.uk/acatalog/info_CDIINST.html
Add an 1/10 extra spacer to the stock spacer in the cylinder head to reduce compression.
Another question is the vent of cylinder, gasser motor is much more heating as nitro. cause they have more rich oil to dissipate heat.
My friend has already converted a T-REX 600 with about a 12 Hours of flying without problem. He use a mixture of gasoline and 5% oil.
I get converting a Titan 50 V2, and hope to be lucky if the cooling fan is adequate. Otherwise I split also on a T-rex 600 with better cooling system.

Now i'm flying with a 700 converted to Zenoah 230RC, I love it: no smoke, no oil, few cents of gasoline and 20' to 30' fly time with a full tank of 630 cc.
My friend's project is less expensive!

This is the video of my friend's 600 gasser upgrade: no Zenoah but TT53:
TRex 600 con motore TT53 RL trasformato a benzina. (7 min 7 sec)

You shocked me I-FELN. I was thinking I might be able to do this but didn't know if it would work. Thanks for posting this, I am happy to see it.

You may be able to find some motocross 2 cycle gasoline booster additive that increases power and helps to run cooler. You could also consider a thin aluminum shroud around the cylinder head that is fed by the fan. Look at snowmobile motors, like Rotax to see what I mean. Take the shroud off and it runs hot. So that proves they work.

Thank fine suggestion, we would try the additive and if possible to build or find the aluminium shroud.

please Let's know result if you catch this project

I have a Raptor with the TT53. Tempted to convert it.

Interested in the details on if any modifications are needed to the motor, and carburetor.

I was thinking the original carb may work but be very sensitive to adjustments. It probably should have a small Walbro.

My friend has put a ring of 1/10 (come in bundle with TT53) from the head and the body of cylinder. no other need.
Rember also to change all glow fuel line from the tank (and into) to engine with TYGON tubes.
By now I'm Waiting to receive the engine and all electronics parts to start the job.

Chophop what Walbro carburetor? please could you post a link?

I don't have one picked. My best guess would be to convert the glow fuel engine size to CC then start with a carb from about any motor in that size. My guess already is to use one from a 15CC motor, and Hobby King probably has that in the best price. Be careful, they also have a Walbro clone carb that I hear is not as good.

It's actually a bit over 8cc. That means a 15cc carb would be much too large.

Looking at the Magnum .52 conversion which seems is never going to make it to the market I see a possible carb.

This is from post 5 in the link below, a possible carb for the conversion :

Is it just me or does that carb look like the Saito FG-14,20 carb?

OK thank,
but by now I'll try to catch a right mixture (need only lean) on the TT56 with dual needle on the standard carburetor. I know someone tried on carburetoer with fuel pump without acceptably result!

Do you plan to use the muffler port to pressurize the gas tank ? Remember those motors may backfire.

Never seen backfire going into fuel tank from the exaust... also in glow engines! hope to have an extinguisher in the neighborhood if occour!

I heard it could happen but no references to actual accidents. I don't know your skill level so I thought I would warn you.

Thanks for the warn, to secure that I could put a filter to lock any flame.

Be sure to tell how it works. I am still looking at some well powered gasser conversion. I think that that RCG 15 CC airplane motor may be modded to fit a 30 - 50 heli. Some ports are made best for an airplane, so it may be tricky.
Maybe even look for a different ported cylinder to fit to it.

My Rjx 90 has a slightly modified CRRC 26 CC in it. Looks like they modified the prop adapter, added a carb with a primer bulb, and air filter, and also put in better bearings to handle the increased rpm. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1152836
