Thrust on a 400 motor with a Gunther prop

Having just bought myself a GWS 50 size ducted fan - I am amazed at the power. It may be old hat to the reast of you but 74grm of thrust from something so small is amazing!! ho does this compare with say a 400 motor on say 9.6v witha Gunther prop. Does anyone have any thrust figures to compare with?

$ for $, amp for amp, a prop will beat an EDF any day.

The silly looking Gunther 125x110 prop is probably the best for DD S400's.

74 gm is about 2.6 oz, a Gunther prop, DD on a S400, 8 cells, will turn about 15Krpm, develop about 11 oz.

MAS 5.5x4, 5x5 carbon prop and APC 4.75x4.75....all better than
gunther. I really like the 5x5 carbons. Good pull and good speed.

I know its not a Gunther, but with a 6x3 Graupner folding prop, on 8 cell 1250SCR NiCds, my 7.2v Speed 400, drew 10.1A (9.1v), 94W, 11760rpm, 288g (10.1oz) static thrust.

Perhaps of interest: the most I ever got out of this particular motor was with 4.1:1 MPJet g/box, 8 cell KAN 950's, 11x5.5 APC E, 7.1A (9.0v) 64W, ~5000rpm, 422g (14.9oz) static thrust.

Cheers, Phil
