Just cut or twist the other end of the shielding then heat shrink it to ensure it doesn't make contact with any other wires. Yes, you should be able to tap into the ground and use it for other components. Test everything on the ground before you fly it to be sure all is wired up correctly. Be careful of creating ground loops. I'd create the harness first (vtx to osd) with the shielding, test, fly, test again (be thorough), and once you've verified all is well, then move onto wiring other components into it, and test again.

Also, don't forget to give yourself enough cable length to wrap 5x (minimum) through a ferrite ring, as close to your vtx as possible.

Thanks so much Alpha. Just one last question regarding the power and ground wires. Should I have them on the same twisted pair or should they be on separate pairs? Does it make a difference? Will any method in particular increase quality and minimize rf noise?

thanks

No problem. I've kept power and ground on the same pair with no problems.

Can anyone tell me where I can get spares for this plane?
I am going to maiden mine tomorrow with FPV but would also like to have a spare lid for LOS flight.

Just received my 2m Raptor and started by fitting the 35-36 1400 motor.
But i have two questions:
Did you horns came with back plates to bolt on or not.
Mine are just horns that are supposed to be screwed on the wing surfaces but there is no plastic piece on the other side for the screw to bolt on.
Hope i make sense.
And second: is there any picture showing the fpv equipment layout for a correct CG?
Regards

Looking good teopbako. That black plastic piece always made me nervous. Motors generate heat, heat + plastic = melting. Just keep an eye on it. D35/36 is a good motor.

Peep the brown pants moment from a recent flight.
Miscalculated angle to ground station and broke LOS with a cliff between the plane and GS. Doesn't get much closer than this.

The pylar is aluminum and it snug fits in the original position.
To secure it i use the screws that held the plastic part as-well.

Interesting video. I'm still waiting on parts.
Your pretty brave to fly over water. I hope to be there some day.
Any chance you are still going to make the mission to the rig station?
