Seeing your pics of the plasti-dipped canopy got me thinking. While it's not as strong or durable as epoxy, -it is quite flexible, weighs less, and won't chip or crack off. The spray version adheres well to foam, applies evenly, and weighs as much as Fusion paint. I applied two coats to the wing and motor tower (check the pic in my last post) and initial results are promising. A couple of rough rides in a small trunk and a few high speed brushes against tree branches haven't scratched or chipped it away. Also interesting is that it can be used on antenna elements with no negative impact on performance.

I'm glad the plastidip worked out for you. It definitely helps prevent so light damage and rash.

I have a 1100kv motor. I will try with the 2 blade version first. The 3blades is a little expensive and I'm worried to snap one blade on landing. I have >10kit of 2blades

Hi,

The NTM 28/36 1800kv motor on 4s what prop would be needed? Does this motor need to run on 4s as I am running it on 3s with a 8*6 prop.

Well here's mine:

Stock motor, 40A ESC from Hobby King, 2x2200mAh 3 cells up front, stock everything else.

Only mods I've done are to completely cover the wings in Duct HD clear tape which is super strong (barely able to tear it), and made sure it surrounds the wing mounting screws too - I'm hoping this gives it a bit of strength.

Maidened it this morning but did a girly hand launch and it ended up doing a belly flop, and ripped the rudder clean off .. .the air was blue lol because that meant home time

Fixed her up as soon as I got back, and now going out to try again

Yes. Both are good motors but I don't think you're going to fit either motor on the stock mount without creating a new motor mount and modifying the tower. Also, at 120 grams you will need to counterbalance the weight up front.

I have have the 1800kv. I took it out but just got another to replace it I did have to cut back the opening in the tower to make room for the larger bell. And I cut the shaft off because I used the bolt on adaptor. It hauls butt too. I can launch off the grass no problem and even have good vertical flight. I will try to get some pics posted when I put the new motor back in. I am using a 8X4 APC on the 1800kv with three cell. I would use the same prop on 4 cell with the 1400 kv.

is there some rule of thumb for how big the wooden blocks should be for the twin raptor mod? Like how far should it go into the wing?
