Fly Naked !

cale10,
Just get it in the air, stick time cures all. Get some flights in and adjust from there. The Edge isn't going to do anything weird or strange if you have done your setup even close to what the manual suggests. It does exactly what you tell it to do. This really may be the perfect first balsa 3D plane. I think that is exactly what 3DHS was aiming for. The more you fly it the more you like it, the more you like it the more you will want to fly it. Kind of a nice "Catch 22" thing.

Fly Low

When maidening an airplane, make sure you check EVERYTHING. Make sure everything is moving the correct way. Give all your linkages a check to make sure they are correct and will not come undone.

I normally take it up trim it out check the CG... and then give it hell! When you land then check over everything again.

You will love the 48" it is an awesome airplane.

I agree but you should do this every day that you fly.

I check control surface movement before every non back to back flight

Make sure servo screws haven't been left out or have come off too. Happens alot

Excellent advise by both.

I check control movements before every single flight. Just a habit now.

Fly Naked !

After finding the rudder hinges loose the other day I added give all control surfaces a gentle tug before each flight, this will also tell me if I have any slop in the linkage or servos. I also check the wing bolt tightness when I change batteries. I check the prop nut every flying session but not every flight.

A reamer is a very nice tool to have on hand.

Is this your first one? Can't remember if you've had one before... If it is your first then I think I can safely say that you will have a blast with it.

Not sure how many flights I have on mine but its alot. Many more flights than my 70"+ size ships. Its a regular in the trailer now and If Im not taking the trailer it gets its own spot in the back seat. What a great, uber fun bird to fly. Thinking about the same size SHP with another motorlfly setup.

48" size birds are in my opinion the perfect size, they see the most flight time just because they are so easy to fly anywhere, I have the 48 edge, 47 shp, 48 laser, and 47 osiris, love them all

Nope I had one before, and I have been flying my 104 Slick and a 88 EF Edge with a DA60 in it... never got totally out of electric as I have a 57SC with a Motrolfly and it rocks.

My last one lawn darted... I got in on the pre-order of the very first batch ever and it had the first run aluminum wing bolts. It is small so I left it put together all the time, and well, um, I kinda forgot to check my bolts. Wing came off.

That Buck Huck 1.5 was the first plane I ever touched the tail in a hover, drug the rudder in a inverted harrier, and did HAKE so low it about scraped. It taught me so much, and I loved it... so after a break I decided to get a new one. I think I have some pics of the old one in my Blog.....
