The smallest drill bit I have is 1/16. Is that sufficient forth screws provided?

The drill I have also cannot reach, lol, this is a mission!

well I suppose you could start your hole with a servo screw or something. A hand drill is a great hobby tool. that being said... I dont have one either

when I did mine I used a larger blind nut and a bolt. The larger drill bit was long enough to reach with my drill.

This is what I have right now.

I hope this will hold and not crack or damage the plane when I land.

looks good to me. there will be almost zero pressure on that screw. kinda like a wing bolt... doesnt do much but hold the wing snug. the anti rotation pin and wing tube do all the heavy lifting. those formers and the wedge will be plenty strong to keep the gear in place.

I had similar trouble with both of my orange Edges. Had to use sanding sticks that wife uses on her nails to open up the slots in order to get the wire in. Then ended up sanding the wedges to get them to fit all the way. This was not a problem with my blue Edge. I think the covering on the orange Edges for some reason shrinks a bit tighter than the blue. I had some slight warping of the bottom of several formers in the rear fuse on both orange ones but not on the blue.

+1 - and all you need is a small screw. Don't over-complicate it - like was said... that screw doesn't have to do much but keep the gear from falling out. There is no vertical force (down) being exerted on the gear ---- unless you really screw up.

I epoxied my gear in, and if I ever have to replace it I am going to have a "FUN" time removing it with a dremal. But I think the plane will go before the gear.

293 flights on my original epoxied in gear, well over 400 landings and this was my first 3d plane bought back in Sept of last year, sure the gear bends, I just bend it back

First thing that comes to mind is fatigue! Although I bet there will (hopefully) be a few thousand cycles of bending before any cracks show.

My re-pod edge still has straight gear... against all odds I've probably flown it about 50 times.

Hey guys.....

Since I bought myself a lathe, I have been trying to figure out a few things to make to make a few bucks with it. So...for those that would like some of the aluminum "buttons" that I designed for the landing gear mod, I am going to make those... Let me know if you're interested....
