I think 1800 4S 40C will weight pretty the same as 2200 25c 3S. Any way, you can weigh your battery and if it's more than 170g then it will be ok.

Ya I think you will be pretty safe flying that pack. I'm guessing you will get similar power to the 3s setup on the 12x6. Maybe it will be a bit faster. Should be fun The only down side is you won't have the big prop for post-stall flying.

Made a bit of progress tonight now I am at the point where I need to install the landing gear.

I may use a wood screw to mount the gear, but that aside, I can't even get the gear into the fuse. It is tight and I am afraid to force it. It seems my plane is really fighting me, I am wondering if the weather here is causing this plane to deform causing me grief.

Any tips one how to get the wire gear fitted into the fuselage other than brute force?

How tight it it? Is it just snug and you can still push it in or is it so tight you have to force it in? I would check to make sure the is no debree in the opening such as glue or epoxy or some covering. If there is nothing blocking it try lightly samnding the wood so you can them slip in the grear and epoxy it.

I have to force it, it seems to be sticking on the corners. I guess I need to take a file to my plane.

This is not working to well. I am not sure I am going to be able to get the gear installed so that the gear plate is flush. I feel something is going to crack snap or break if I force this gear in. The last few millimeters is the problem now.

This is so frustrating as I am sure I should not be struggling this much.

Can you look into the slot and see anything blocking the gear???

It is totally clear I think the gap is just too narrow. I managed to file the opening down a touch, but now I only a fee millimeters out. I think the gear is a touch thicker than the plate and evidently the slot.

grovey... dont know what to tell you man. I have not had that problem. Mine was very snug but I could get it in ok. Maybe your formers have warped a small amount making the space tighter. How far can you get it to go in before it is too tight to go further?

I agree, I am sure it is not supposed to be this difficult to install.

When you say very snug, how hard did you have press together the gear in?

The gear still needs about 2-3mm.

So then the question becomes, epoxy or wood screw(s) for the installation?

wood screw man. that gear will bend and you will be kicking yourself if you glue it.
