Gens Ace Batteries :)

I have been using Gens Ace packs for quite a while now and I have to say they are great! Highly recommend them, even the 25C's give loads of power and come down at a tolerable temp. Plus you can't beat the price, they are the best cheaper packs out there... I have tried some more expensive brands too and they are just as good or better.

A man with too many toys
I just got a 3s and 5s 30C 5300 on 5 July. I have a few flights and so far I am very impressed. I see on other forums that they say it’s very important to break them in easy for about 10 flights and they will have a lower IR (more power and punch). I am taking it easy and can’t weight to push them hard after 10 easy flights.

I really like the balance connectors. Unlike those goofy Thunder Power connectors they fit my charger without the need of an adapter.

I fly a lot of Turnigy nano-tech batteries and these are actually cheaper in-hand due to the free shipping and low initial cost. Just like Turnigy they can also be charged at 5C. Now if I only had a charger that was capable of charging a 5300 battery at 5C – any recommendations. My current charger only goes to 10 amps.

Nice to hear about those Gens Ace batteries. I just ordered a couple of their 3S 30C 5000mah models for my Traxxas Stampede.

Yes I toatlly agree... JST-XH balance taps are the best, I hate TP and Polyquest ones.

As for charger, I love my icharger 306b. 1-6s lipo, 30 amps, 1000watts. I can do a 5300mah at 5.5C.... however I would suggest against charging at max rates. I charge mine at 3C max. But... with my high power charger I can parrallel charge so it's not that bad. 20-25 minutes for 2 6s 5300mah batteries is good.

My 306b and 1000 watt PS is coming tomorrow! Can't wait to start parallel charging, doing big batteries one at a time at 1C was a pain.

Progressive RC is where I got mine. Also EP Buddy is very good. Both have great customer service.

As for power supply, I bought the 2 12v 47a ones from feathermerchant here on RCG and hooked them together to get a 24v 47a.. they are nice and compact.

Gens Ace 30C 6S5300

I am using a pair of 6S5300 30C Gens Ace packs in my new Compass 7HV. Running a Kontronik 120HV ESC, and Scorpion HKIII 4035-560 motor. So far, I love the heli, but am very unsure if everything is performing as it should. Tough to judge as of yet, as I've not tached the head, but I think I am in that 2000 rpm neighborhood. The packs are coming down with no temp rise...just at ambient. Good right? Not sure. Scorpion motor is classic hot. I just don't think I am getting the power delivery. Many guys are flying higher C rated packs, but I am not sure the performance is there. I am slightly suspicious of the Kontrinik auto timing, but maybe I simply don't have as much headspeed as I think I do, and I need to increase the pinion tooth count by a notch.

Anyone with experience on setup of Kontronik/Scorpion?
