Tether cars and Tether car engines

I started this thread to cover the tether cars and the engines used in them.
One thought is how does one go about adjusting the needle valve on a engine, or how do they perform a break in with it for that matter?

There is a nice video about tether cars:
Nitro Tether Car Racing 200 MPH (3 min 0 sec)

and someone did 209.7mph here, the car is so fast that the video camera barely catches it in the video:
Re: 2OO MPH Nitro Model Tether Car (0 min 56 sec)

Here is a .60 engine example of a Fox-Babb tether car engine:

Love'em but when I find them they seem to be out of my budget.
Missed a "Whirlwind" one time just because I didn't know what I was
looking at, and before I made up my mind of course it had been purchased.

I have a McCoy given to me by a very good friend, rest his soul.
Of course broken bar in grill, missing bridle but rest seems to be good.
Someone polished off the patina...good or bad ....

Yeah the tether cars are pretty expensive, not a huge market to spread the cost out over either. I have thought about making one myself. But I need to go find some tires for it, maybe wheels.

Didn't you make a video of yourself test running your tether car? I saw it on youtube a while back. That is a nice car you got. I like it. I sorta like the more classic look of that style, versus the unlimited speed liner styles.

I have one of those Nylint repos of the Cox Champion midget racer with dummy Cameron engine. Wish somebody would come out with a suitable all in one power system for it like Cox used to make.

Here are my tether car vids. Although my car's are not as fast as the above videos, they are still cool and a lot of fun.

Here a few pics of a couple of my cars.
The first car is a 1950 Power Jet Indy Racer with an .09 that has never been used and in the original box with all of the original accessories, the tether line, the manual, glow plug wires and the tether bridle.

The second car is a new 1970 something Testors Fast Ones Spider Van with all accessories.

Here is a list of cars that I will post pics of as soon as I can.
1 New never run 1970 Testors Sprite w/ box and all accessories.
1 just about mint, 1975 Testors Fast Ones Super Van with box and all accessories
1 Used in good running shape, 1975 Testors Fast Ones Super Pickup
1 1972 Cox Shrike that I restored with the original Babe Bee
1 new never run 1977 Cox Stinger Funny Car
1 excellent (1961 I think) OK Cub Go-Kart with an .024
1 scratch built .049 powered 32 Ford High Boy
1 Mint in box 19?? Cox Star Wars Landspeeder

Hello all,
Thought I'd post another pic of another one of my tether cars.
It's a 60's OK Cub Kart that would be mint if I had a new driver.

As a kid, I was never involved in the tether car hobby, although it didn't stop me from drooling over the catalogue pics........these are from the 1959 SEMO catalogue...
