Open Source Remote Control System (OSRC)

Hi everyone,

We have initiated a project to design and manufacture an Open Source Remote control system which is affordable and packed with features that you normally cannot find on any other system which we named OSRC.

The project is described in the IndieGoGo campaign found at the below link:

http://igg.me/p/33899?a=60860&i=shlk

If you are interested, want to contribute or have any additional suggestions to add to the list of features already described then don't hesitate to post them.

If you want to find out more about who we are then don't hesitate to visit our website at: www.gizmoforyou.com

Make sure to check out the IndieGoGo campaign where new features are described and updated. As always if there are any questions then don't hesitate to ask.

Don't forget that there is a deadline on the IndieGoGo campaign so if you are interested it wouldn't hurt to comment, contribute or just check it out.

Since will be releasing our 16 channel transmitter, I definitely interested in any ideas we have not thought of so far!

Hi Jim,

Your products look pretty cool. Are they Open Source?

PS: Feel free to get ideas, no problems there.

Careful, Jim likes it when someone else does his creative thinking for him.

You might consider using one of the Creative commons licenses, to CYA.

Tnx Guz. We are aware of the license. For the time being there is no reason for it but we have it in mind and will implement it once required.

Don't hesitate to comment on the features we have placed as our goal or suggest things you would like to see on the controller.

Just the application layer will be open source. The internal workings of the transmitter are not.

The application layer lets you use a library of functions for accessing the display, speech, EEPROM, FLASH ROMs, etc. You could make a mixer application, an optical tach app, or even make a game program.

Sounds great. The best of luck with your product.

No Comments.. really? At least tell us if you like the idea and if one would want to buy such a system if we made it.

OK, things that I can think of:

A standardized, well documented, expandable communication protocol between the Tx/Rx (control and telemetry).

Symmetrical (left/right) layout of buttons, switches, gimbals, etc. on the Tx. (Not everyone is right handed)

Possibly do some real research on the ergonomics of the switch control layout of the Tx.

Touch, data screen at the top of the Tx.

Make sure the telemetry sensors can be "daisy chained" directly to the Rx.

Tnx for your Feedback, the features you described are already a must in our design so no problem there.
