RedCon 6CE 6 Channel (DSMX - DSM2 compatible) Receiver
RedCon 6CE 6 Channel (DSMX - DSM2 compatible) Receiver.
Looks like Grayson hobby has jumped on board the cheap DSM2 bandwagon. Here's their version of a spektrum comparable receiver. http://www.graysonhobby.com/catalog/...eywords=redcon |

Detailed information on RedCon DSM-921 9 channel receiver
Hi I just purchased two of the DSM-921 9 channel w/ aux receivers. I dissembled the DSM-921 and a AR921 from JR/Spectrum. The pictures of the internals are attached. The one on the left is the JR piece and the one on the right is the RedCon piece. The RedCon Part is only DSM2 but it is compatible with any DSMx Radio. Also it can be used with Realflight 3/4/5 and maybe 5.5. You connect a cable (included) it to channel four on the receiver, Plug in your flight sim transmitter (the one provided in Realflight) and plug in a battery or 5 volt power supply. Turn on your PC and calibrate your JR/Spektrum 2.4 radio and that is how you use your on transmitter wireless. Questions ? Message me.

Purchased two REDCON CM-921 9- channel "DSMX Compatible" receivers from this Ebay seller... http://www.ebay.com/usr/discountdepot http://www.ebay.com/itm/Redcon-CM-92...item5409444d0a Even tough the advertisement says "DSMX Compatible"... IT WILL NOT BIND TO A SPEKTRUM DX18 DSMX transmitter.... so much for being "DSMX Compatible" as their ad title says. Originally, the seller was going to refund me the price but not the $ to return... he then thought he found a loophole where he did not list the DX18 as a compatible Tx... Ebay 1st sided with him but after a long call to Ebay/Paypal where I had to educate them on R/C gear, they gave be a "Courtesy Refund"... where I believe the seller still gets to keep my $... go figure. So... BUYER BEWARE! p.s. I also tried binding them to my DSM2 JR12X transmitter and NO GO... what a POS! |

Spektrum is finding ways to lock out aftermarket Rx in newer models. I just bought a DSMR DX4C radio and it comes with 2 receivers and I will never buy any more because they are $50 each. If this is the case I am not buying any more Spektrum radios. I have bought 4 and I'm out. $50 for a 4 channel ground Rx. It's almost theft. I use genuine Spektrum Rx in my serious models but I have DOZENS of models and I use orangeRx or Flysky in cheaper stuff.

New 9 channel REDCON Receiver
Redcon must have done some re-design, or I just got lucky. I ordered one in early Dec without checking this thread, and it came 2 days ago. I took it down to my shop today, and it it bound just fine to my Spektrum DX9, and the transmitter is reporting that it bound in DSMX mode. It is too cold here (Utah) to go check it out in a more expendable plane, but I will do that as soon as it warms up a little in a couple of months. I purchased mine from Banggood with free shipping and so far am happy with it. I didn't check the binding with my DX8 or DX6i, but those should be no-brainers (ha!)?
The current advertisement at Bang Good shows the CM921 as follows: "REDCON 2.4G 9CH CM921 DSM2 DSMX Receiver W/ CM921S Satellite Spektrum JR Compatible" which specifies that the current receiver is DSM2 and DSMX compatible. |

Redcon DSMX compatibility
Remember, guys, "DSMX compatibility" only means that it will bind to a bi-capable Tx (DSM2 & DMSX), but not necessarily in DSMX mode. As one guy posted, his DX-9 showed it bound in DSMX mode, so that is proof that it will operate in DSMX mode. I have a genuine-looking 6-channel Spektrum Rx bought from an cheap Chinese seller that I sent in to Horizon Hobby to be checked over. They said they were certain it was a genuine product. They thought it must have "fallen off the truck" during a trip across Beijing and was picked up by this seller. It would not bind to my DX-9 at all! I think you get what you pay for, unless lots of sucke...um, folks have tried them out before you buy one. The Orange products seem to work well, as well as the Yellow. You need to ask, is your plane worth the $20 or so to buy a proven product?

I finally put my Redcon 9 channel receiver in my Goldberg Anniversary Cub, did a range check (I always check at 30, 40, and 50 paces), then flew it twice with my DX9. Everything seemed to go well. I was going to make more flights but my OS 70 Surpass decided it didn't want to run any more that day. I haven't taken it out since, but so far it hasn't given me any trouble in DSMX mode. I forgot to look and see on my transmitter if the DSMX was 11 or 22 milliseconds, but that doesn't seem to be noticeable when flying my other receivers.

2. If you get the fast blink, according to Spektrum, move the tx at least 2 arms length away from the rx during bind. Closeness can overpower the RX. 3. I found that a clone RX was probably never tested with a clone TX so unless the TX is a real Spektrum you could have a problem. I found this case w POWERUP DSM RX and ORANGE TX6i. Bound but died at 20 ft distance. |
