Today the weather was great, the temp was in the mid 70's and the Santa Ana wind's finally calmed down. We had 7 boats on the lake at one time. Mine was the only Canterbury J. Most of the day the wind was very light but at times the boat was heeled over on a nice gust. Here are some pictures.

Canterbury J Class Secretary

Hello Everyone,

I would like to introduce myself to you as the new Canterbury J Class Secretary. I have the priviledge of sailing with the AMYA President Dave Brawner and we discussed the position last month at his annual Pour Party. Quite the event to say the least!!

Anyway, I look forward to everyone's input and suggestion as we grow the fleet. Wiith all your help we all can accomplish this. I too have a Canterbury J #538 and I'll post pictures of it in the thread for favorite sailboats.

My name is Ray "Skip" Hall and my email address is:skiphall@optonline.net. Rick aka Boomer in the Nivirana thread knows me, as we've talk from time to time and enjoyed dealing with him.

Again, I look forward to the challange that comes with this position and for all your assistance with growing the fleet.

Sincerely,
Skip Hall

Hey Skip.
Congrats! You will do a fantastic job! Terrific boats! Perhaps one day when I grow up, I will be in this league.

Sent my deposit to Hans a few days ago, so hopefully I'm "on the list". Got a lot of decisions to make....planked deck? hatch type? winch setup? I'm shooting for a min weight boat, so I get the feeling a plain plywood deck is a better idea. Will probably go with a digital arm winch, but double or single arm? Anyone care to discuss/persuade me one way or the other?

Skip,

Thanks for stepping in to be the new Canterbury J Class Secretary, I hope the class continues to grow especially here on the west coast. It would be nice to see more pictures and input from "CJ" owners in this thread, lets try to keep this thread active to generate more interest.

Congratulations to Kevin (poltergeist) for ordering a Canterbury J, I will send you a pm.

Funny you should ask. I was thinking about working on my "J" and took a look at this thread and viola! Great minds think alike.
What a year this has been. I crashed one of my favorite airplanes and as soon as I'm done repairing that, the building will commence on #539.
No excuses! I love excuses, just ask my wife!

Ed,

No, I haven't heard anything. Guess I should contact Hans and see what his timetable looks like. Do you remember how long it took to get your parts?
