I agree on that Spendor... Efilte planes are junk and the landing gear never stays in them..

Cant fly enough

Too bad they are discontinuing it.

I will definitely try to buy a spare fuselage since this was the weak link on the Aspera.

There is always the Great Planes Reactor!

I just picked up a NIB Aspera. How was the fuselage weak? Maybe I can fix or avoid the problem. Thanks!

Hmmmm. I had a Aspera and didn't have a problem with it. I sold it to make room for the 47" Osiris which is a good flying little pattern plane.

I also would be interested to know what part of the fuselage was weak? In all of the threads that I read about the Aspera, I never heard about anyone having problems with the fuselage breaking.

Hi Guys,

I didn't mean to say the fuselage was weak. Both Aspera's flew a long time. It is more that when you do have a crash (once the battery pitched out, the other time I hit a tree while landing and the plane fel out backwards) the fuselage takes the majority of the damage. The wings are way stout and usually survive.

But I flew both Aspera's forever!

FlyWWI congratulations on your score!

As I posted a while back I hit a pole on taxi back. Finally got it repaired today.

The pole hit right between the ribs. I got lucky. So cut out the damaged stuff and put a couple strips of balsa between the ribs to support the sheeting. Sheeted, sanded and filled then sanded again. Recovered with ultracote.

Hopefully good as new!

Was able to finally fly it this morning. Flew just as good as it did before! Got 4 flights on it.

Does anybody have trouble steering yours on the ground when taxing? On take off I'm straight as an arrow and it's perfect. When I land and try to turn on the runway sometimes it's hit or miss if it will turn enough. Can switch to high rates of course but don't fly with that on.

Anybody else or just me?

Mine handles fine on the ground, but I do need high rate rudder to turn it sharply. Is there slop in your tailwheel/rudder linkage? Do you hold up elevator when you taxi to hold the tail down?

(Very nice repair, BTW!)

Landings are not optional

Up elevator can help a lot, a light crosswind can push the tail a surprising amount.

Might try Deuce's suggestion of up elevator in a crosswind and also I use ailerons as well. When I turn left I use left aileron, I just keep the up wind aileron down, especially in a crosswind situation.

You can also increase the rudder throw through your radio while leaving your other rates as they are, I use tons of rudder pretty much all the time....just me.

I'm going to tighten it up a little. It probably should be a tad tighter.

It was windy yesterday so that might have had something to do with it also. Will try the up elevator as others have mentioned too. Don't want to increase the rudder throw as it works for me well while flying.

I'm pretty happy with the repair. You can't really see it unless your looking for it. I was able to do some snap rolls, hammerheads etc. and the wing didn't fall off so think it will hold LOL

Is the 47" Osiris being discontinued? I kinda want one to move my electronics over from my 48" Edge to.
