I tried a 5030 with hyp 180's and was not impressed...then I tried 5043, good stuff!

Weather is looking quite grim here as well.. Expected delivery of my cat will be tomorrow. I couldn't resist my ultimate 20-300 sitting here in the laundry room, so I took her up for two bats last night in 10-15 wind gusts but with no problems. They just built a great astro-turf run way, I mean football field here in town so it will be great for the pole cat, can't wait! See how she does, then I'll probably splurge for the sbach, the brushless setups on these UMs is so pricey though, but if its anything like the beast I'll have to bite the bullet.

Anyone put floats on there polecat yet? :-)

Weather Reporn for Friday's Maiden Flight:

Hi: 74į
Cloudy in the morning...then partly cloudy. Patchy morning fog. Highs 70 to 75. South wind 5 to 15 mph.

Partly cloudy in the evening...then mostly cloudy. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows 50 to 55. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph shifting to the south after midnight.

I'll take what I can get! Right now its 15-20mph which is a NO GO for me.

My Polecat's motor mount broke today. I just put a few drops of Hold the Foam glue and tried sticking back. Is that the right thing to do??

Flew mine 4 times today...First flight wasn't the best, but was alright. I needed to trim it out and I did all but the elevator. Slammed straight into the ground but the only damage was to the nose cone. Then got the hang of things and flew some really amazing aerobatics. Roll rate is a bit sluggish, going to put a second servo in.

I think I might add SF Generators for Knife edges.

I flew it on a MCX radio as my DX8 is out for repairs.

Did you move the control rod on the bellcrank to the inner position for the ailerons? This makes things quicker in the roll department.

I tried taking off on a slightly uneven surface, and the propeller hit the ground a few times, so I think thats what broke it

my motor mount broke out as well, just make sure it's centered, I had to shim under one side of the motor mount with a sliver of styrofoam before I re-glued it, worked like a charm.

Well boys I had my first hiccup with parkzone/e-flite/blade and amainhobbies.com... I say hiccup but more like a stomach gurgle.

They sent the pole cat in great condition, minus the landing gear. I had to double check to make sure it wasn't a belly lander haha.

Oh well parkzone/amainhobbies.com will make it right, and hell I'll belly land it until the gear gets here. Waiting for the sun to start going down for the maiden!! LOOKS GREAT cant wait guys.. Great looking plane, even without landing gear!!

Pole Cat kinda mornin'

Aaaah, after 2 extremely windy days in a row I was finally able to get out right after sunrise this morning to a balmy warm (for around here in late Sept.) and absolutely windless session of flying. It was great! So far (knock on wood) still no glitches with servos on PC #2. I love this plane!

BTW Perschek....welcome back from active duty. Don't know if you remember me from the PZ P-47 thread or not but I live North of you up in WA. State. Welcome home! You get that Pole Cat in the air yet? Also, I ditched the landing gear right off the bat and made this my 1st ever belly lander. If you do decide to leave the PC gear on there when you get them just be forewarned the the wheel pants will break if you look at them sideways. I think some folks have either soaked em' a little bit with thin CA (but be careful not to get any on the axle) or tape to toughen them up a bit. Anyway....enjoy her, she's a fun little bird!

-B

P.S.
The stock batteries pretty much suck as far as flight times and umph. I fly nothing but Hyperions and Miniaviations in mine and can attest to a major difference in performance over the stock batteries. Also, a 5043 prop added a little extra boost as well. Just a thought.

Ofcourse I remember ya! Windy here as well, but late last night rightbefore nightfall I got to maiden my cat. Wow I was very impressed. I enjoyed flying her even more than my beast. I know I'm wierd but I've always been more of a sport flying type a guy. It was still a tad windy but nothing the ultra-micro couldn't handle. Working out the CG, she was a little off, prob from not having the gear on.

As far as the wheel pants go, I usually fly my UMs until one rips off, then I either repair it or just take both sides off. I think its silly, it looks just fine without them IMO.

Its 20mph winds outside now, so not going to get to fly her again unless a miracle happens. Crossing my fingers though. After I get another flight or two in I'll try and take her to the armory gym for a few laps.

I'll throw a 5043 on it tonight, I have a stock pile of them. For now I only have the stock batterys but want to find a decent priced website on some more.

I am seriously considering getting a Polecat. It looks like it really flies well, but it doesn't seem to get much notice.
Has anyone tried SFG's on it? I'd be tempted to cut off the wing tips and attach them with Velcro.

I will be trying this next week when I get mine back in the air.

awaiting a replacement rx, should be in wed.

My LHS has a set of sbach SFG's I am going to try and see if I can attach.
