Way to many airplanes!
Hmmm, the way I see it, it's a plane for racing and racing involve a group of people owning the same plane. Should be extremely fun with 3 other buddies having one.

The Sbach has much larger control surfaces. Sure enough you could do pole racing with it, but at only a few feet above the ground and on a thight circle around a pole, you're dead meat if you make the smallest mistake. The Pole Cat is designed to follow a line very sharply. The Sback is designed to break that line very quickly!

Back to the pole cat, I'm not crazy about the angle on the rudder... (not that you would use it much anyway!). Otherwise, it does look fast, just sitting on a table! And at $99, the price is sweet.

As far as the next UMs coming out, Seth has to be working on my future Extra 300 version. (not that there's much to be improved on it, but I could use another different 3D ship in my hangar and Seth hit the nail right on with the 300). The other guys can work on a UMX Stryker (no need for rudders, Sbach motor, two servo, cheap and fast) and a glider.

A while back I used to be able to say I owned all the micros... HA!

What I'm really waiting for is an Ultra-Micro float kit. They would sell like... Well faster than crack laced hotcakes.

I was thinking a little baby pylon racer would be a hit. One of the really sleek ones though, not the scale ones. The guys at the local park don't fly any scale racers, just he funny looking sleek ones.

Yeah, I was thinking so too... but I asked around at my park and most people think it wouldn't be allowed where I fly. The boat area is for boats, the plane area is for planes. *rolls eyes*

I wanna float plane!

Bingo. If you want speed, go build a drag racer (also know as the art and skill of spending money on horse power)

It's designed to race in club style races against other spec polecats. That means it takes actual ::gulp:: skill to win, not just a fatter wallet.

Mid July isn't bad either. Wonder if these are on the water yet?

3s polecat?

I know everybody is thinking about going brushless with this plane.

But before I spend any money on parts experimenting....

I would like for those of you who know more about power systems to please inform me if this will not work.

AEO-RC C10 8 gram brushless outrunner 2100kv

Tested with GWS 5x3 Propeller
11.1v -3.1 amps- 33 watts- 16.65m/s pitch speed - 163 grams of thrust.

Tested with a GWS 4.5x4 Propeller
11.1v-3.3 amps-35 watts- 20.68m/s pitch speed- 135 grams of thrust.

ESC - Exceed 6amp 6gram (Could shave 2 grams by running a Castle Creations 6amp)

Hyp 3s 180 - 19.4 grams.

Motor+esc+batt+ Plane = ~68.7 grams about the auw of a umx sbach

Its going to be a lead sled...

Giving a thrust to weight ratio of ~2.4 : 1 with the 5x3 with a pitch speed of 37mph and ~2:1 with the 4.5x4 with a pitch speed of 46mph

I am going for speed

Damnit HH, why bring this out AND bring out the Spitfire at the same time, im supposed to be trying to pay off my overdraft

Unless the review is spectacular I think I might be passing on this UM for the time being, I just cant see it being different enough from the Sukhoi.

I think they should make a glider or a jet. That's the only few airplane types that they haven't made yet. THe new larger parkzone spitfire looks nice.
Regarding biplanes, I figured someone would bring that up. That Beast always raises its ugly head whenever UM discussions ensue- it just won't go away. However, The Beast isn't really a UM- it's not even a Parkzone. The UM series are even smaller, use 1 cell lipos, geared/brushed power systems, and are generally setup for more scale/backyard type flying. The Beast with its 2 cell lipo and brushless motor is targeted more toward the 3D aerobatic crowd. I'd like to see something slow and relaxing that can do mild aerobatics, maybe something like a UM SE-5, or a Stearman, Travelair, you get the idea.
But I agree with you, a jet or glider would be really sweet. I'd buy a UM Radian in a second. They won't be able to solve the power requirements for a micro EDF anytime soon I'm afraid- at least not one that will give decent flight time.
