The build instructions here are different than RC Factory

The build instructions from RC Factory emphasis this.. second page, Diagram C state: "IMPORTANT: if you glue the wing in normal (not inverted) position- the upper surface facing up-the stabilizer cutout in the backbone should also facing UP. On Diagram C the wing and the backbone are depicted in inverted position."

The build thread here shows the notch facing DOWN.

You are correct that it shows it that way in the manual. I don't remember if I had a manual or chose to disregard it.

I think you can go either way and it wont make a big difference but it is up to you.

Actually, it does make a difference because the "backbone" is designed to build in a bit of right thrust on the motor mount. If you build it with the backbone upside down (the way Hercdriver unfortunately did), you will end up with left thrust on the motor instead of right thrust. A lot of folks who don't pay enough attention with the smaller RC Factory models make this mistake. But Herc is such a great pilot that he probably just compensates for the left thrust on his plane without thinking about it! Right?

That's a valid consideration also but I assure you that my plane does not have any left thrust. Checked, rechecked and checked again after I read your post.

However, I will change the build thread notes to reflect this point.

The right thrust built into the backbone is very slight, but I assure you it is there. The front surface that the motor mount "wheel" is glued onto is slightly angled to the right as you look down from above. The other difference that you get by flipping the backbone upside down is that the horizontal stab will end up just slightly lower down than the correct position. Again, this is not a huge difference, but I figure it makes sense to build the plane the way the designer intended.

Neil,

Not going to debate it. You have a valid concern. And I have updated the build log.

No worries, Chris. I'm not looking for a debate, just stating my point of view.

Agree not debatable so yes build per manufactures specs Chris thank you for adding the notes to the build so others will be able to build per RcF specs. Neli, totally glad your enjoying your 1.2m loved the in flight photos you took I look forward in seeing some videos guys!

Heads up if you want one of these birds since we only have a few left and are unsure as to when they will be back in stock.

Still struggling trying to select the correct motor, 70g or 100g. On my 39" RC Factory SU-29, I made a firewall and mounted the motor rearward, and I liked that. I'd like to find a 800-900 KV motor in that range so I can swing a little larger prop..

Are those revisions to the web site or to the 1.2M SU-29?

Thanks..
