HobbyKing B-17 EPO 1875mm Memphis Belle.
Thing this bird deserves it own thread now as its diffrent to the smaller one that HK have. The bigger one is cheaper than smaller one and looks to have a better paint job.
I copied the below from their site. It is rare that an individual aicraft becomes famous and even more rare that a film is made about a certain aircraft, the Memphis Belle and her crew were to "star" in no less than 2 movies, making this B-17 probably the most widely known individual military aircraft. More importantly, this aircraft became a beacon of hope in the dark days of 1943 as it was the first Flying Fortress to successfully complete 25 missions with her crew unscathed. The aircraft and crew were sent back to the US from the ETO to raise war bonds and of course moral, they recieved a heros welcome and a legend was born. This huge plug and fly B-17 is very simple and fast to assemble, with all servos & ESCs pre-installed. It is made from EPO foam, so it is tough as you would exepect and as the 1pc wing is removable, it is also practical. The pre-fitted electric retracts & wheels are large enough to tackle almost any surface and with plenty of power on tap from the four brushless motors spinning counter-rotating props, smooth take offs are a synch, the pre-fitted split flaps ensure that landings are also drama free. There is plenty of scale detail on offer, including the guns & ball turret, the Pratt & Whittney "engines", three blade scale props, working navigation & landing lights and so on. We have flown this B-17 extensively, it is easy to fly and so graceful, a scale flyers dream, this model has real presence in the air and is bound to become a star at your airfield! Specs: Wingspan:1875mm Length: 1350mm Flying Weight: 2750g 4 x 700kv Brushless Outrunner Motor 4 x 20A ESC 6 x 9g Servo Electric Retracts 6 Channel Includes: All y-leads Glue Instructions 2 x spare propeller Parallel Leads for ESC/Lipoly Requires: Your Own 6 Channel TX/RX 2 x 2200mAh~3000mAh 3s Lipoly Battery https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...203&aff=151412 ![]() |

This one looks to be made by HC Hobby who aready did the B25 and Mosquito

Then the odds are that this B17 might be good... the Mosquito seems to be a nice and popular model, the B25 wasn't good in it's original version, however became a nice plane after the Hobby-Lobby-modification... which unfortunately never became available in Europe
![]() That FW190 prototype that HC came up with a few months ago was horrible and never made it to the stores... Well, this B17 has a good size, but it looks like it has only few details and poor decals... just like the B25 had... and those panel lines kind of spoil it... gotta wait for more pics to come in! Manu, what makes you think that this is HC? Cheers, Bernhard |

Well Bernhard, just a wild guess so far, but have a look a those 2 pics:
![]() ![]() Propeller, hubs, and fake radials looks identical too me between the HC B25 and this B17... They also seems to be scaled same and the wingspan looks roughtly in proportion... |

I was holding out for the larger Starmax B-17 but after seeing close up pictures I'll go with this one in silver. Have to add a bomb bay but this should not be to bad.
Hope the silver one shows in the US warehouse soon. --Stacker |

https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Warehouse.html I tryed to order when I first saw it .but it was to large to ship one piece wing . I ordered one , will test fly then strip paint fill the lines and give it a good Paint job and some Callie decals . the base model looks good - I have the Mossie and B-25 - but this should be fun. |

Ok the 1 cent shipping was the clincher. Get em while there hot. The lack of a bomb bay is ok. The panel lines are unfortunate. You can see in the video the lines will be very visible.
Maybe they grow on you?? I hope I don't have to fill/repaint. Great price on a big classic.. .
