Question

Wide angle lens Quad FPV?

It seems like the FPV forum is mainly filled with rc airplane enthusiasts so I figured I'd ask here.

I have a SN555 Sony Camera with fatshark goggles. I've only had about 5 flights so far with FPV and I was thinking it might be easier going through tight spaces if I put a wide angle lens on it? Is this what most people do? Is it not recommended?

Looking for some input. Thanks!

I'd like to see them, right now I barely see them. I'd like to see a bit of the arm too so I know If I can fit through something.

I'm just starting, what do most people do?

Kinda wondering this myself funny you asked.

Today I updated the firmware on my gopro so I can view the real time video while recording..so I can eliminate one camera and just use the gopro. But I haven't tried flying with it... seems like by the time I think I am going to hit something I'd already have hit it. Very hard to judge distance with the wide angle on there. In my goggles an object looks 2 feet away, then I look and it's 2 inches away yikes.

Yes i like to see them to, so what i did to one of mine, Move your camera to the back of your dome and raise it up just over the top of the dome, then you should be able to see both props and then you can fly in tight spots, i would stay with that lens then the pic don't get distorted, now this is just my opinion..

I'll try your suggestion G-unit, thanks. I can see the arms if I move the camera back this far...

I may still hit up ebay for a few lens, they are cheap. Thanks for the link Stacky

Not much crash protection mounted like this though.

the delay is pretty bad, hope you dont plan on doing any low altitude flying...

Hook it up to your TV first.

You can go with a 2.8 that will help, If you are worried about your camera mounted up high ,just make the mount able to move down in the event of a crash, but that camera will handle far more abuse then your quad can..

Have you tried any of those in a GoPro camera?
