Question

San Diego Twisties coming to Monterey and San Luis Obispo this weekend

I'm making my way up to the bay area for a wedding this Friday. I figure I would bring three friends with me..they are all pretty sexy and very twisty.

Saturday is the best bet for flying. We are stay in Monterey. I've done some searching here on groups and have some names of some sites but would appreciate if someone would clue me in on if what I'm bringing will work. So with site and LZ and wind I hope in mind..here is what I know

-Marina Beach
-Garrapata

Sunday I'm headed down the 1...so anything between Monterey and SLO and Solvang is fair game....I have no sites for Sunday

Monday
-Ellwood Mesa could be a possibility

Cheers and fingers crossed to good wind

If you want more Coastal Bluff flying and don't mind driving a bit further North, there are several sites around Aptos, La Selva Beach, etc....

Marina Beach is sand dunes, as I recall

Hit up Slople for site info!!

http://www.slople.com/

Ellwood Mesa almost certainly won't have enough lift, but the Ruins might - in the mid-to-late afternoon. Directions here: http://www.sbslopers.org/

You could try sending an email to the Pismo Beach Soaring Society for info on slope sites around SLO. http://www.pbss.org/ They have a few spots but I don't know how amenable for landing something fast, glass and twisty.

Good luck!

Monterey flying...

My favorite site in the Monterey area is the "Ledges." See map Google map and place mark below.

There is a wind talker at Marina Beach State Park (end of reservation road) you can call for current wind conditions: 1-831-384-3184

Right now it looks a bit foggy for the weekend; but maybe you will get lucky.

Good Luck.
