This afternoon I installed and used the pocket AVR from Sparkfun. Installing the drivers was a real pain, but it works and I would recommend it. $20 shipped from Colorado.

I just flashed a black board and a red KK+ with it.

Thanks LazyZero!

I'm not sure what was the issue with mine pano. I could not get either my laptop or my desktop to recognise it. I sent it to my son. I'm sure he'll be able to get it to work.
In the meantime I ordered a cable for the one I have that works.

newbie here, is this board (KKMulticontroller V5.5 Controller Board V2.2 from goodluckbuy) the same as (HobbyKing Quadcopter Control Board V2) if not which is better?

My own research (I have both boards, both set up pretty much the same) tells me that the 5.5 board may actually be a bit smoother. But it could also just be that since I'm running 1000kv motors on one and 850s on the other that it could be a motor issue.
I do have another 5.5 that I just recently got and reflashed to X mode so I plan to switch it out and see for myself. The HK KK board is set to less than 50% on roll and pitch pots to get it to quit wobbling.
I will swap it out for the 5.5 which has the pots in their stock setting. If I get this done in the next day or so I will let you know.

I believe they are the same. They use same gyros and same firmwares. They are both using an Atmega168. Goodluckbuy seems a bit nicer and comes cheaper since there is free shipping and you can buy it along with the usbasp for 33 USD. I have the one from goodluckbuy as a starting point. Flies good. Nice FC for the casual multicopter that you don't respect

The one I have that works was a pain at first. It took a couple of days to get it sorted out. But at least it works.

By the way i had some problems with the 4.7 firmware on this board. Motor no.4 wasn't spinning properly. I am currently flying with 4.5 since the rest of the FW weren't compatible with my ESC's. I tried everything so if you ever get problems with FW's try the 4.5 most propably you won't go wrong with it.

You might consider buying the distribution board as well for currents less than 20A. It is a nice deal for 2 bucks.

Yes, that was my idea!
Did you take of fast or very slowly?

If I take of veeeery slowly, 4th motor side will not lift, and probably make the quad flip over (never tried).
When completely airborne, it behaves normal.
So give it a controlled quick lift without hesitation...

If you ever come to Sweden, there is a free prop waiting for you!

Btw. When you have about 30% throttle and you feel that motor 4 is not rising RPM as the other motors.
Will moving the quad (making the gyros compensate) change the motor 4 RPM? (That works for me)
You may have to disconnect the other 3 motors to hear the RPM from the motor sound

I need some help, I installed this FW on my HK V2 board, now when I plug it in the esc:s play their usuall short series of beeps (turnigy plush 25) after that they all continue to beep constantly around 2-3 beeps per second.

The led light up when I move throttle to bottom right and it goes out when I move throttle to bottom left.

Any help is appreciated
