I'm also in the process of building a X-style hex, but now that I've read about this updated firmware I'm almost considering running it as a quad.... Any hex plans KK? (doesn't have to fit an Atmega48)

You might want to try an usbasp based programmer instead. They're real cheap on ebay (search for usbasp) and work just fine for what we're doing here. Just remember to get a 10pin to 6pin adapter as the default 10pin cable might not fit your board.

Don't forget the quality you get with crappy ebay programmers that don't even work properly half the time.

$120.00 for a kk board and still only using a Atmega168 you dont have to look far to find much cheaper and much better alternatives to this, and only 4 rx inputs

Am I reading this right its $299.00 for the GPS version with more rx channels

The 25$ KK board. You won't get MEMS gyro with this board, but the ones it's equipped with should work just fine.

Other than that there's CopterControl (not in stock at the moment), which should also be good for the future. And then there are alot of MultiWii-based ones. FPV4EVER sells a MultiWii board without sensor. Add one, tweak it and you're done. But then again, if you're looking for "RTF", your best bet is the KK, I think.

First Xcopter!

After almost 1 month of try's with my tricopter, after changing and trying all firmwares for the tricopter and braking 6 servo's with plastic and metal gear,i succeeded making my first Xcopter. Here is the first photo of him.Using latest firmware and i am glad i had the chance to really feel a first flight. No video yet but i THANK YOU KAPTEINKUK for you help building and sharing all this cool stuff.
My first fly day was very windy(rain was coming) but still was very stable and figured out very quick how to setup the potmeters.Hope i will be able to make a video tomorrow.
P.S. Have to buy 3-4 more batteries!
