I always take off and do the whole flight with FBW on.
The only thing to remember is it is sensitive to vibration, so if you are taking off from wheels then the ground roll can upset the IMU if there is significant vibes. Hand launching is sweet.
This clip was hands off in 20Kts. Didn't touch the sticks until she was up and away.

On my radio I have set up "launch mode" that pitches the plane up. Altogether with FBW my launches are good every time. Just have to remember to test if baro, AHI and GPS work correctly before each flight.

Hi,
today I finish to built an FPV setup on an ICON A5 plane. I connected my second RangeVideoOSD5 and all its components. I power RVOSD5 and it works good except for a big problem... I can not bind the TFRSP FrSky CPPM receiver http://www.frsky-rc.com/ShowProducts.asp?id=80

The procedure is:

- I connect a separate battery (12V 1000mAh) to RVOSD5. I can see the pictures and RVOSD works.

- Then I connect the main battery to the current sensor.

- Then I switch on the bec to feed servos and receiver.

- I Set the R/C receiver connected (Main 4/4) menu item to Yes.

- I set PPM combined signal (Main 4/4)

- I go in PPM configuration menu but no signal moves and when I make Bind procedure pressing receiver’s F/S button unfortunately I do not get any success. And the receiver is disconnected from the radio.

I use a FUTUBA T12FGA radio with TM-14 module.

Please, help I made. I made numerous attempts but now I do not know what to do... I think that the problem is only between Radio Transmitter and receiver.

If you think that the problem is between the TXand RX why add all the other equipment? It only makes it much harder to search for error .To make things simple try again to bind TX/RX but skip all the RVOSD equipment. Just add a rx-battery and a servo to the Frsky RX and try again.

After watching the Fly-by-wire launch videos it got me thinking. Has anyone launched in RTH, Level Flight or Heading Hold mode? It would be a cool trick to leave your radio sitting on the ground, pick up the plane, toss it into the sky, then casually walk back to the ground station and take over control when comfortable.

I always launch my plane in RTH mode I just launch it into the air and it climbs up to my set altitude and circles above me while I put my goggles on etc, then all i have to do is switch on my controler and then im in control
