Good job teaching the children building airplanes!

For the katapult launch, did you use a tow hook, or your velcro attachment?
Its a hook, Its just a straight piece of 2,5 mm pianowire pressed in the front of the fuselage in front of the battery in a angle of 45 degree, and reinforced with fiberglass tape.

My Alula is getting dusty!

Not flying the Alula much at all anymore.. not since I put together this tough glider.... I don't how many times I have slammed it into the pavement. I definately have gotten worse at landings because it does't matter..

My first ever hot wire cut wings. The next ones will be better, but I'm building the light wisel with the ones I have - and the next build will be better for the experience. I know where and how I need to improve the hot wire cutting...

Not a lot of free time for building right now - I like a leisurely build time frame. Looking forward to completing the build though in a few weeks.

We Have cut wings for 8 Wisel in the evening school for children this evening

Video from the Evening school last year, where we were building Cobra planes.
This year we are making Cleancut (Depron, indoor combat planes), and Cobra and Wisel.

The wing cut for the children
Its very fast when the cut are propperly prepared.
Airfoils for the wing is made in aluminium, and pollish so that the wire dont get stock. Wood will also do it.
And some wood pieces is made, to lay under the airfoils when fixed at the end of the foam, just to get the right washout and secure that the left and right wing are like each other.
The overall wing shape is made in a piece of cardboard,

Cheers

Almost done.

I promise to do a better build next time

I did the washout as you recommended post 34

weight at 190 grams but still need control rods and some ballast to balance at cg (will start cg at 94mm)

added a tow hook beneath the battery boxes.
the aft back pointing tow hook length is 31mm.
Should I cut it back to 10mm?
After that, does it look OK?
(hook won't be used anytime soon)

probably will fly the light wisel tomorrow, although may not have any wind.
At least will be able to glide some.
thanks - aeroknot

10 mm is ok, then you can katapult it with a bungee.
for normal towing we just use velcro tape, just 1 cm long.

Good luck

glide test was good - no trim necessary and CG was good

atlatl launch since no wind and no bungee was available.

Two guides on the bottom for the atlatl launcher - need to buy some bungee cord.

Nice glider. My first motorless rc plane flight!

A quick question is the Cg measured from the wings nose tip or from the trailing edge?

I found it is 9.5cm from the leading edge where the wing meets the fuselage. I have flown + or - 5mm from that spot. heavy winds with ballast i move CG closer to the leading edge about 5mm. I am sure cg varies do to the homebuilt nature of this glider and weather you have a fuselage or not. SHoe
