Wisel, just the glider you need.

Hi
If you can cut foam wings, then this is the slope glider you always have been looking for.
Small, fast, manoureable and will fly in 6 to 35 knots wind.
And if you make a light version it will outperform the Alula in any wind strengh, except realy light wind.
It only need 2 knots more wind, but then its realy cool.

We use it as a club combat glider, and will also DS with ease and it keeps the track and have a fantastic drive.
Very good beginner DS,er

It can carry a lot of ballast, (more than 10 ounce/ 200 gram) and then its realy kick ass.

For main spar we use 2 x 2 mm cfk rod, (one at the top and one button) or 1,6 mm aluminium velding rod
Battery is 4 X AAA and it will also need some lead, or 700mha Life 2 cell batt
Servo is 2 x HXT 900 ( 9 Gram) or 12 gram servos with metal gear
Aileron is covered 3 mm balsa.
Rudder is covered 2 mm balsa.
Some have covered all the wing in oracover, other in tape, but they all are good,
But for the new we build we use Hobbykings covering film and it is very good, we also make a lot of fuselage in balsa and it give a really good aerodynamic with low drag.

Very manoureable, easy and fun to fly, and can take some beating

Its tooo good to keep as a secret...

(I have 2 Alula,s but after I got this one, I almost not using them any more.)

Now a better airfoil plan made by Glidergirl on page 23 in post 344

RC. Wiesel glider. (1 min 56 sec)

DS combat, With Wiesel (2 min 3 sec)

Club combat. (0 min 44 sec)

All my Wisel / Wiesel videos on a playlist here:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...m2hIXW-_eLY5a0

The pro airfoil is made by cmwwebfx. Ciaran ,, Thank you

And the 3D printed fuselage pod/ and also the Version 2 with thicker fuselage sides is made by Fedor2000

And also a file for 3D printed pod for PW1211 airfoil in post 3191 made by pieri70

Have you flown the real thing? If you like this plane you will like the real one even better... all of the deficiencies of your design have been addressed - even the ones you haven't found yet

Oh - and the next batch of Weasel-Evos will be available very soon. I have seen and held the parts in my hand and they are going to be very, very nice!!!

No, I have not flown the real DFlight Weasel and it was out of stock so we had to try some other thing, and this one is great for the homebuilders.

Oh totally - but if you're going to copy it, at least copy the Weasel-pro from 2003/2004 - the longer tail helps with the yaw waggling

Have fun! Scratchbuilding is cool

Maybe at least a different name, SpeedsterDEN? Mr. Richter has put his heart into creating a small business by building up the good reputation of this name and design. If you've put time and effort into creating a new design it deserves it's own name.

hey, ease up guys

scratch builders usually adapt existing designs and this guy is nice enough to share his plan

anyway, i think this thread will actually get more people to buy Richter's Weasels since they are so well designed and manufactured (i own three!!!) -- buying from Dream-Flight is certainly the easier way to get a great little glider

so thanks, SpeedsterDEN

Light version

Light wind version. 170 gram.
Styropoor with 3 mm depron aileron and tail.
No spar
2 x HXT 500 servo,

Sloping and Dsing the pier.
Wind under 4 knots.
Even better in light wind than the my Alula.

Wiesel light, Sloping and DS (2 min 14 sec)

My fiberglass version is tested, and have now more than 2 houer flighttime on the slope in 25- 30 knots wind.
With internal ballast camber, it was loaded to 1030 gram / 36 ounce
And it was realy fast.
Hope for the first DS tomorrow, weather looking good.

He's not selling anything... just offering plans of his own design, based loosely on the Red Herring / Weasel planform (and older generations of them, at that). It wouldn't hurt to give another name, but whatever... obviously he's having fun and that last video of the light one looked like a great time!

SD, have fun man, keep it up! Try a fin that goes back further, it will really help smooth out the plane and get rid of those little wobbles. Trust me!

Very cool. I was watching the footage and thought to myself how gutsy it was for you to fly over the water and then thought: "it should be possible to DS back there" and then you said it.

Looks more Red Herring than Weasel to me. Very sleek w/out the nose pod.

I think an argument of "intellectual property rights" regarding the weasel comes in it's blend of airfoils, not planform.

But then everyone will say its a weasel copy.
Our Off The Edge Wasp looks nothing like a weasel, but we still get comments saying it dose.
