Hi corocopter..What could it bee the dimensions of this single copter vtol!?
I read in description in you tube,is made from 3mm depron,2s300mah,lipo,AXI22/03/52,with 8/4,3 propp,110 grames weight.
I need some input guys,i want to make one.

Maybe 12 to 14 inches in diameter for 8 inch prop if you're installing spoilers, but your overall weight maybe closer to 500 grams all-up..?

Skip the 3 bladed prop, use a two blade version, very low pitch, larger diameter, move a large amount of air slowly.

Nearly a sphere in shape, just add the rest of the cage if desired.
Simple design, many fewer parts to construct.
Lighter in weight.
Easy to program and balance.
Easy to repair.....!

Older KK board = piezo gyros

Newer KK2 board would be better.

Hi Kelly,
Sorry i have been busy with other projects for the past two weeks.
Thanks for all the info about Singlecopter!
The attached videos are my version of Singlecopter using a Hacker 30A outrunner motor and three Rate Gyros (Gy401 for Yaw axis, G190 for each Pitch and Roll axis) . The prop size is 11 x 4.7. I am slowly building a spherical frame around this singlecopter. The cg location is about 0.5 " below the motor mounting plate.
I have ordered a KK2.0 Board last week from Hobby King, hope i can get it soon!

Half sphere (1 min 32 sec)

Half sphere 2 (2 min 0 sec)

Hi Tim,
I cant wait to see your flight video too!

Hello Ben,

That is very impressive....!!!

So simple and elegant.

It looks very stable and relative easy too fly from my observations.

Can you please tell us how the flight characteristics compare to your other sphere?

Do you know the total weight yet?

Thanks for posting these great vids.

KK2 PI terms settings

Here is a video showing how to set-up the P&I terms for the KK2 board.

If the sphere is suspended by 2 strings very slightly above the CG, it will be possible to set the P&I terms for either pitch or roll, then simple copy those terms to the other axis.

Tie the strings to the top of two chairs opposite each other, suspend the sphere from the 2 strings between the two chairs. This should work much like the Leggo Bike balancing on the steel tube in the video.

UFRO (0 min 43 sec)

Maiden flight test !
Finally got my Japanese version sphere with 8 servos!
It weights about 848 grams, CG at the meridian.
Prop size 11x4.7.
Motor : Turnigy D3548/6 790Kv
Three gyros (Gy401 for Yaw axis, G190 for each Pitch and Roll axis)
Still need some more trimming.

It is so much fun flying this even though it is not perfectly trimmed yet

Which sphere is the most stable, the 4 vane or 8 vane model?

i would say 8 vanes model is more stable and easy to control
The 8 vane sphere is pretty much like Sam's model = Bottom vanes from the Singlecopter version + Top Vane (as elevator and rudder function)
I am now modifying the top vanes to have Yaw input (or you can call it roll) as well.

UFRO FInal Version (4 min 56 sec)

This is the final version of my sphere
I have made too many spheres and interchange parts among other sphere.
Hovering is very stable but not forward flight.I might have to reduce the bottom vanes surface area or reduce the deflection of the vanes to reduce drag.
The total weight is 976 grams, cg is about 0.25 inches below the meridian.
Again, i am using the same three Rate gyros as mentioned in earlier post for stability.

Nice! you finally have it. not perfect, but much better than i could do

would the FF be fixed by software, or is that the drag you were talking about?

I decided to try a Singlecopter based on the video in post #343 - see photos - but using a Multiwii Flip board. I am using a standard 8 x 4 prop from a quad, so not a heavyweight.

I found I had to add substantial weight below the motor to get the CofG lower and stop the thing wanting to flip.

I have to add a substantial amount of left rudder otherwise it yaws continuously but I have nearly run out of servo travel. I assume this is to oppose the counter torque of the motor? How can I reduce this?

I also have to add quite a lot of pitch down to get it to hover but this may be because it is not well balanced with all the electronics and battery on the top side?

Has anyone managed to get one of these to work like the video and if so have they any tips?

Regards Peter

Hi HappySundays,
We are some people in vtol forum what we struggle to figure out how to make one vtol plane wth kkuk board.
For example,in tricopter or bicopter configurations,if tilt the motors forward, how it can be done, without like aileron and rudder to be inverted!?
What you advise us!?
