Ready and Waiting

Just a short note to all my ALES friends to wish you all a Blessed and Happy 2013
I'm getting closer to being ready, and now doing a lot of waiting for our monthly gatherings.
A huge thank you to Curtis for being the main cog in the wheel to get ALES started, and
for being there to keep it going
Blessings!

Thanks for the kind words Arlen.

I am happier than all of you guys combined! Soaring competition is the one thing I missed since moving to Montana in 2001.

The contest calendar for Helena has been posted here: http://tailwindgliders.com/ALES.html#Contest_Calendar

Note: For you Helena Flying Tigers guys that have the wonderful calendar Joe put together there is no date for the March 30th ALES contest. I have taken the liberty to have that as our first contest of the year.

I'll be keeping track of the best five contests for the year and award prizes at the end of the season to the top three places. You'll need to be a member to receive those, dues are $25 a year.
I'll also be sending the contest results to the ALES League as well.

It's looking like a great season, the field of planes will be different than last year and I've heard of a few new ALES pilots joining us too!

Happy New Year!

Have you seen the article in the January issue of RCSD on page 51 titled "What I Love about the Eastern Soaring League...Learning!"

http://www.rcsoaringdigest.com/

Also check out the photo on page 32. Must have been a low pass!

Yuppers

Curtis,

I have a "long distance" RC forum friend (Thomas) who lives in Germany. We were discussing that particular German event pictured in the RC Soaring Digest, and although he wasn't able to attend that event, he said he personally knows the pilot of that glider with the "sea weed" hanging off of it. The pilot was making a VERY low pass when he got into the weeds, and said he was fortunate to be going fast enough that it didn't even slow his glider down. Those are some really nice photos.
Blessings,

Arlen

Twitching with Anxiousness!

Well,
This thread has been dead for quite awhile, so thought I'd sow a few seeds of
conversational starters After a couple of hours with my brother TIO flying
and enjoying my Radian and "Curtis Built DLG" this past Saturday,
I am getting anxious to get in some serious flying time on both the slope and
in the ALES air. All but one of my sloping/ALES planes are ready for action,
and I need to completely rebuild my Art Hobby Hyper before the season
begins....need to get the replacement parts first. (Andre, get ready for a call
Hope this note finds all of my fellow ALESites doing well and getting ready for
some fun. If I remember correctly, Curtis has our first monthly session
scheduled for March. Hope to be there!
Blessings,
Arlen

New ALES Launch

Hey Curtis,
Is this a legitimate way of launching our ALES Gliders?
