First contest is in less than a month, the last Saturday of this month.
We need some volunteers for CD's for this month and all the other months except for August, November and December because those last two months are just too cold!!! Thanks for your volunteering! Curtis |

Dang Curtis, If you are offering that come pick me up in North Carolina and I'll fly too!
Oh wait, our Down East Soaring Society is having our first ALES Festival that same weekend at our new flying field, so I wont be able to come to Montana and enjoy your hospitality If you are not attending the contest in Montana come to North Carolina and enjoy our new field. (I know, shameless plug for DESS) Garry |

March 25th ALES Contest, Helena
Since I have not received any volunteers I'll be the CD.
There are new AMA and ALES League Rules. Please review them, you can find them linked here: http://tailwindgliders.com/ALES.html Pilots meeting 9:30am and first flight at 10:00am. This way we can go over questions on the new rules this year. Plan on six rounds, 10min per round. Landing will be the standard 1 meter tape. However it'll be scored differently. You'll either receiver, 20, 10 or 0 landing points. 20pts if landing on a 45 or 50, ten points for any other number and zero if off the tape and within 75 meters of the center of your landing spot. Zero flight and landing points if landing beyond 75m. Also, this may mean that the road/fence/ditch is inbounds now. Does that make sense? Hmm? Then lastly we'll drop a round! Ha! So as a season opener we'll have an easy landing task but maybe difficult flight times and with the drop of your worst round folks can still place well with one mistake. Skegs are allowed. Varios are not allowed. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Curtis |

What a long winter we have had and everyone really needed today. What a great time with excellent pilots and friends. I will post scores and further comments in a day or so but for now how about this round...
