I flip my control surfaces so that it is on top rather than underneath.

Have there been any ideas for protecting the ail control horns? I looked through thread but didn't see anything specific. Don't want to mount the drop tanks.
Here is how a lot of us do it... Run your AIL horns up through the wing...

They are hard to come by these days. We need someone to 3D print some!

I found some 35mm edf parts at hobbyking about 1 year ago.. they were the stock Skyangel units with the fan shroud and both 3 blade and 5 blade fans. They were from the international warehouse. It might be worth checking to see if they still have some units in stock.

Hi,guys,
What`s the max 3s setup AUW with single EDF you guys are flying?
Most of the AUW are around 116g , but AUW of my scratch build F-16 comes at 168g before paintting,
It`s floaty with 474mm win span(almost the size of 50MM EDF F18) that can hand launch with 70~75% % throttle ,will torque roll over 75% throttle with hand launch.
The W/T ratio before painting is about 1, the thrust is about 158g maybe more(is this normal?).
What I don't get it now is how it does fly with this loading?
The loading is reaching the edge of max 180g of 35MM thrust, now I`m worry about the 10g extra paint weight,

Any case with this loading that flies?
Thanks for helping.

Lighter is better...especially with these little gems. I would say that if you were really worried, maybe remove your wingtip missiles (lots of drag), and instead of painting, just use colored markers (Sharpie's depending on foam)??

My 35mm T-45: 3s 460 mAh 25-40C AUW=134.2g
My 35mm F-86: 86.0g empty 3s 460 mAh 25-40C AUW=131.3g

Hope this helps!

Thanks, abjets, they were close to my origin one, seems like that 130g is average in this win span on 3s.

Did your jets encounter any torque roll with hand launch on 3s?
I built this large version to expand win span to solve strong torque roll and low speed dropping on 3s, the problems were overpowered and light weight, now become tug of war for W/T.
I love AF scheme paint, now it leaves no choice but stripe scheme .

cheers

Torque roll or too much coffee... They are small twitchy birds...but the 3 blade fan on 3S isn't too bad.

Indeed too much coffee got me hand twichy!
I guess the fresh battery boomed out too much power or my little bird got flue that rolled and flip.
Just give it a shot, maybe this big bird does fly!

A strong, level launch into the wind...let it get up to speed before too much AIL or ELE input... godspeed!

Result of small 35MM EDF on 50MM EDF win span jet flight.
Windy day flight equals to Final flight~
35MM EDF on 3S ran out of juice quickly even if fly with 90% throttle, extra filler weight made me unable to do any paint job for 180g AUW, the cheater holes helps squeeze out more power, how ever I broke the last back up 3 blades prop, now she is for 50MM EDF now....
