Fan Swept Area.
I wonder if these would make great little reno racers.
By the way, the full size Panther jet had cheater doors just in front of the fin. They would close when it got up to speed. I'll see if I can find a pic.

I'm thinking of flying without the hatch on my Mig if I can't get enough air. Yet to maiden - maybe this weekend.

Thrust tube now seems pretty simple. Thanks I'll make one for both the F-86 and my red Mig (which probably needs it more)

Hello. Lurking for a while now. Maidened my BH F-86. It is my first EDF, as I decided to start small. Well, it didnt nose dive but it didnt stay aloft. Under full throttle she slowly decended even under full up. Even the Wright brothers got more distance than I did. Managed to tear off one of the ailerons, so tomorrow is repair day.

Funny you mentioned that Nitrocharged. In post 789 I mentioned the LA 15. It had a hatch over the motor/fan so you could start it with a piece of shoelace wrapped around the flywheel. With the hatch on it would just do a long glide. Accidently forgot to put the hatch cover on and it finally would climb to about 60 ft. in big circles over a period of a couple of minute motor run. Where was electric when I needed it.

I hadn't noticed before when I finished the post about the thrust tube that the zip file for FSA Calc wasn't there. Here it is.

Is it worth flying the f86 stock?

Will an Ar6100e fit in there?

Hey Flying Maus! Welcome- we have the same problem! Hopefully these guys here can get us properly airborne on our existing 7.4v equip. Followed previously posted advice - used the mylar media out of an old 3.5" floppy disk to make an excellent aileron hinge. Kudos to the guy that came up with that one. Funny I must have a hundred of those things (and 5 1/4) from 16 years ago or more that I swore I needed. But don't think I'll be re-installing ms-dos etc. anytime soon.

flypaper 2 - my 64mm Panther arrives from BH Friday. Don't know if those cheaters you mention would be a bonafide concept for the model. It may want a magic tailpipe added too. The F9F might be a good design for 35mm. Could be a really nice flyer.

Here is a little video showing a hand launch of my Mig 15 on 3S, shot using the smooth slow record mode of my Sony AX2000 (kind of a super slo motion mode). It is the next to the last clip in the one minute video.

If you like, Google the F9F panther and you can see them on Utube taxiing around on the carrier decks during the Korean war with the doors oprning and closing.

Gord, I ripped the cover plate off the cheater hole of my RCLander Panther and it then had more power.

Crikey Jon!! Nice slow mo`

I just gave my Mig a red paint job. 2 coats of Tamiya bright red PS04 top and sides. No AS paint at the LHS so I grabbed that one. Should be easy to spot in the sky now...
