Meanwhile, in England......... (Part Deux)
Words absolutely fail..... for the police and parents of the young children.

He may or may not have been a burglar (more likely crawling home from a pub, dudn't matter the result is the same... punishment should be too) but you can for darn sure bet the cops would have found him at gunpoint here, and they would have cuffed him and arrested him. It is breathtaking to me to see them gently wake him and offer a ride home-if he were a drunk burglar or was a burglar who was acting drunk to get out of trouble, what if he had a knife? We'd be watching a video of a bobby getting gutted while the other one runs with a radio to call for real police.
I can't imagine having young children and not beating a stranger in my home to a pulp, even if I didn't have a weapon to protect my family with. Strange lot you are..... |

The over reaction and murder route was tried in court very famously by a lunatic recluse with a chip on his shoulder - he shot a 16 year old boy in the back as he ran off!
So on balance - if nobody got hurt then this one's a result! |

Strikes me that the police - and the homeowners - handled the situation perfectly. The lad was just worse for wear and completely out of it. The homeowners obviously felt sufficiently secure, in the place that they lived in, to leave their doors unlocked.
What's the actual problem again? Is it disappointment that nobody got killed or beaten to a pulp? |

mainly because.... 1) He wasn't a 'lunatic'.. just lonely. 2) The 16 year old was a serial burglar (if I remember right). 3) The old fella had been burgled a couple of times just previously. 4) If you don't want to risk being hurt, then don't go onto others property at night, uninvited and unannounced. (Similar to.. don't blame the electricity company if you stick your fingers in the socket.. I believe it's called 'personal responsibility' ) 5) The kid got shot with pellets (again, if I remember). 6) The old fella was licensed to have a shotgun. P.S. Actually, Leccy, I think he was 'lionised' by those that like to believe 'An Englishman's home is his castle'.. |

Over here, the police must be looking to actually arrest you before they can cuff you. |

Well,.... over here being inside someone's home uninvited and unannounced is grounds for arrest!

I don't care whether he was a serial idiot - burgler - mass rapist or whatever - he was a 'boy' of 16 and didn't deserve to be shot in the back by 'a lunatic' The 'old fella' was a sociapath at best - not exactly a lonely old fudger but more a hater of everyone and everything The kid 'shot with pellets' - DIED of same I'm really surprised at your response to this one Norman - not like you |

Over here it can be grounds for arrest (trespass) but the police shown in the video are quite clearly seeing it is just someone who has had one too many and rather than arresting him, taking him down the station, charging him with an offence, fingerprinting, dna swab, etc they chose to look at what he had done (stupidly falling asleep on someone else's home floor whilst drunk) and realised the embarrassment of what he had done when he had recovered from his stupor would be enough to not have this happen again. After all, he was hardly violent during what was shown so why take things any further? |
