Ok I will try that next time I fly.
I flopped the plane on the ground pretty hard, the wings detached, so theres no sure way of confirming that the battery came out.

So I'M meant to be in control?
Colonel Blink's Avatar
I do about the same; 30 paces and check that the flappy bits wiggle and the motor whizzes when I ask it to. As I am on 35MHz, I do it with Tx antenna retracted, and I point the antenna directly at the model (thereby putting the model in the Tx weak spot). I then turn my back on the model and recheck. Then when I get back to the model, I check the sense of the controls (ie L for L, up for up etc).

Only takes a minute of one person's time.

Changing it to a twin tractor isn't going to solve the problem.???

Why dont you just re glue the mount, work out what went wrong, fix it and get it back in the air. There is nothing wrong with the fundamental design of the plane (in fact its a proven design) but there are a few things that can go wrong with the cheap hardware.

Did you replace all the stock horns and aileron pushrods? It could be that one of the control horns has come loose??? have you checked the servos? Have you done a range check?

Before you go modifying it i would just make sure everything else is right, these things fly great in the standard set up.

No the battery falling out is the reason im pretty sure.
I just always wanted a twin If it does not work its not a big deal I will just fill in the holes and put the motor back in.
All the servos move nice and the control horns are good I epoxied then but I did get one with screws for the elevator because if that fails im screwed.

Lol the reason I made it a twin is cause I wanted a twin not cause I dont like how it flies

With stock motor ARF:
stock ARF prop 140w 12Amp 435g thrust.
5x5 prop 154w 14Amp 330g thrust.
6x5 prop 180w 16Amp 635g thrust.

With 2826/6 2200kv motor:
6x5 prop 240w 20Amp 780g thrust.
6x4 prop 250w 23Amp 640g thrust.

Conclusion: 6x5 prop is best for both motors.

Westwood,

I'm not a big video fan, but your's was marvelous.

Your son's enthusiasm and camera skills were very evident throughout, and your flying skills are well honed. You fly that Bixler like I fly my Champ!

Thanks to both of you for my Saturday morning smile.
On the Champ thread, we award "Kornys" for excellence. You get the top score.
