Finally to put a video together of my 4th FPV flight. I chased a few geese in a park near by.

There is still a lot to learn: flying smoothly, less camera vibrations, video editing ...

FPV Flight - herding some geese (1 min 32 sec)

I finally got around to finishing the SCARAB Stealth today...

This thing is incredible!! the build was completed in about 3 hours and flew perfectly with default PID's - in fact I havent even done any tweaking in the 4 batteries ive put through it so far..

I tell you that this thing is heaps of fun to fly and is so compact that you could put it in a backpack and not know its there.. The weight is also fantastic with mine coming out at 615grams flight ready.. I honestly think that this airframe will appeal to not only beginners but also the more experienced people who want to hack around and have some fun.

My setup is;

Stock airframe
PARIS v4
4s 1300mah packs - 8 min flights.
Carbonbird 1220kv engines spinning 8x4.5 props
10amp hobbywing esc;s
Futaba FAAST 2.4ghz for RC

And, although not installed yet - my FPV setup is;

900mhz - 200mw
FlycamoneHD - for onboard 720p recording + FPV

Cheers,

John

John, what's your experience using the FlycamoneHD for both recording and FPV? Any video footage?

hey mate,

its not bad.. I like it because it produces a relatively nice looking image and only weighs 58grams. In some ways - or in some circumstances - it produces a better image than the V1 go-pro. The other benefits is it records at 720p 60fps which is a big ticket item for me.

The only thing i need to note is the camera is USELESS without the 133deg aftermarket lens.. The lens it comes with is way too narrow and makes you feel like you're looking at the world through a straw.

Check out this video I made a while back comparing a keychain camera, flycamoneHD and a go-pro

The flycamoneHD is top right and the Go-Pro is on the bottom;

Hmm - PIDs need setting up I think - bit much jello/shake/instabililility...

The quality of the flycamone looks good (white balance could be warmer though). Is this the 133 lens you are using? Looks still quite narrow for FPV flight.

I see MWC have removed the original Scarab and the Scarab Euro frames from sale. The $99 euro frame was great value. Ive built up a second euro quad which I was going to sell but I might have to keep it now.

The new roll gimbal looks pretty good. Too bad it dont fit the smaller frame plates.

I would buy several frame plates now for the Euro, they may decide to stop supplying those in the future. All other parts are available on ebay etc...In fact I have 1 spare might get another and knock up a spare airframe...

Hey guys, i never did get a reply to this post, just curious if leaving the zip ties on is a viable idea?

+ 1

CA would be my choice and inside the can around the magnets is even better.
