A %200 slipso.....you have my interest!!! Might be ordering a set of those plans as well. Lots of possibilities with the design. Like wastegate I tried a larger scale slipso but I ran into problems with the larger solid balsa wings warping during the finishing process. The sheeted foam cores sound much more promising in the wing department. Will be watching your build!

Indeed, although not specifically designed to do pylon style turns, the construction guide looks as if the end result is *very* strong.
Plus you could easily change the MH-54 'foil if getting something cut. I'll dome some more work on it this weekend.... |

Small progress - sanded a channel in the tail and added 2x12K tow.
Also cut out 2 bulkheads and started assembling the fuse. If this was available as a laser cut kit, it would go together in no time! |

Fuse coming along - have built most of the tail feathers as well, will post up some pics tonight.
Have not fired up the power system yet as waiting on a new 6s lipo... Final equipment is: Motor: Scorpion 3026-1400kv Prop: APC Sport 7x7 / 7x10 ESC: Turnigy K-Force 100-150A Battery: Turnigy Nano 45-90 6s 3300 Elevator Servo: Hitec HS-225MG Wing Servos: MKS DS470 (bought the wrong ones!, slightly faster but weaker, correct dimensions, should be fine at 5 or 6v though, need 3Kg of torque) BEC: 5A SBEC I'm going to glass the fuse, and the tail. I have also glassed inside where the battery sits for added security. Cores have been cut, on their way (Leon @ Foamworks). Still need to get a few more bits and bobs from Wattsup (Spinner, balsa sheeting etc). Wings will be covered with iron on film. Pretty slow progress really, but it's one to get right! Don't want something funny happening at 300km/h due to a build issue! |

Update
So a little bit of progress, the fuse is coming together, the tail feathers are mostly done, and the hardware is 50% arrived.
I'm still waiting on the carbon weave and epoxy for the wings. My goal is to glass the fuse and paint it. Wings will be covered as per the plan. |

Very sweet build, DUP.
Happy to see the care and precision you're building with. I'll be watching this sucker, and I think I'll have to whip up one of my own. Verrry cool. Would be nice to hit 328kph on something less than the 5000W it's taken me on the Stryker!! |

Murdo,
Feel like building two? I can trade some good stuff for your skills Dave |

That's another thing.... if the german speed cup guys actually made some decent vidoes of their events, I'm sure there would be a lot more interest.
Murdo since you dont have any plans, have you considered a 200% slipso? You can get free tiled plans here on RCG. |

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking! Get the uber low drag wing plus save on postage!

DUP,
Whats your cost so far? |

Hmmm, all up, if you need EVERYTHING, you're looking at USD ~400-500.
But of course it depends. I went mostly for pretty much budget stuff apart from servos, motor etc. Jacko gave me one of his ESC's to use (legend!). I mean, you can spend a whole lot on a 3kg 11mm servo, trust me, I looked at all the options there. And stuff like 80g carbon weave is not cheap. But then again, you don't want to scrimp on materials and equipment on a plane that's got a 200+ potential. |
