Question

Relative quality of iCharger & Hyperion chargers?

I have recently decided to upgrade my charger (FMA Cellpro 4) to a higher power one in order to take advantage of parallel charging and am planning on getting either the Hyperion 730 Net3 or the iCharger 306 (the FMA PL8 and the TP 820 are too expensive for me). Since they (& power supply) represent a significant investment for me, I want to find out which one is likely to perform without problem for many years (just as I would look at the frequency of repair charts in Consumer Report if I were to buy a car). I know ProgressiveRC, EPbuddy, Allerc have stellar customer services but I would rather not have down time.

All comments on the following are welcomed:
- quality of their hardware components from tolerance to button feel
- quality of their firmware from # of bugs to idiot proof (I follow instructions pretty well but I am sure I will forget something as I grow old) to quality of error messages.

The PL8 is only about $10 more than the iCharger.

I think most places sell the PL8 for around $240 while the 306b is around $180. Do you know of a good deal for the PL8?

I have both an iCharger 306B and a Hyperion Duo 720i blah blah blah... anyway, both are terrific chargers and unable to distinguish any differences in quality or performance.
I wouldn't stress about a purchase. Both are great and will last a long time.

Well.....at least you didn't dredge up a completely old thread as your second post.

My favorite feature of the iCharger is its ability to use a external resistance load for discharging battery packs at a much higher discharge rate than the internal load mode.
Does any of the other chargers support such a mode?
