Question

Hornet Speed up 18/16 combo too much speed?

I went with the 18/16 combo to start and I really didnt like the superfast way it whipped the tail around. Plus I had an issue gettin them to mess @ first because the 16 tooth is tiny!

So decided to go with the 18/18 combo and it is ROCK SOLID! With the 16 I had to turn my gyro down because the super speed caused the tail to wag. And I could not find that sweet spot when I was setting up my tail it would creep left and right.

I was just wondering if anyone else had any feed back on using the different combos

All 3 of my Hornets (FP, CP and fbless) have the 18/16 speed up Delrin gear sets and I'll never go back. GY 240 HH gyro on all 3 airframes.

50feet - the next time you try the 16/18's, try moving the tail rotor pushrod in a hole on your servo arm. That should allow you to set a higher gain on the gyro.

Also, I noticed that higher tail rotor speeds really cause the whole tail rotor system to bind up, so be sure everything's greased and the tail servo has the power to move the slider at flight RPMs.
