Hi Gary,

Yes I did join the OpenPilot forum this week end.

Thanks for a graet product. I was quite surpriced how little work it took on the setup side to get thisthing flying. It was harder to get the video edited and in to vimeo than to program the board.

Thanks,
Vip.

I got my tricopter airborne yesterday. Having trouble getting the videos uploaded to Vimeo, but I will post them as soon as I do. This afternoon I cut the arms down to 13" (from 20ish) and WOAH is it better. Much more stable with less tuning and much easier to fly since it's more responsive.

Is there much that can be done about a miserably slow yaw rate in a tri? I don't think I can get much more servo travel to tilt the rotor, and it gets unstable the farther I tilt it. It's better since I shortened the arms, but is there anything else I can do?

Here are two videos: The maiden flight and the first flight with my GoPro attached. I'm still tuning, but it's getting better every time I fly.

Tricopter Maiden (1 min 10 sec)

First Tricopter FPV (2 min 6 sec)

Hi OpenPilot Guru's,

Like many, I'm ecstatic about CopterControl's potential but had a few questions about future plans for it...please let me know if this isn't the right place to post or if there's a FAQ that covers them.

-Is the existing CC board implementation considered pretty much final, in that folks who purchased one now would enjoy compatibility with add-ons such as GPS, barometer and magnetometer? I understand that there's no promises of a future proof product, but didn't know if any major revisions were in the works.

-Any news yet on availability and pricing of a baro/magneto add-on board? Should I put it on my 2011 Christmas list?

-Can most standard 10Hz GPS RS232(?) modules be connected directly to the CC board's serial port as-is, or are additional electronics needed to interface/buffer them? In other words, is software the only limiting factor towards enabling GPS position hold and RTH with an off the shelf GPS module connected straight to a CC board?

-Do you think the CopterControl ARM processor would have enough spare cycles to transmit basic on-screen display data via it's I2C bus to an ATMega or similar, that was in-turn, handling the low level scan-line character generation (similar to the way HobbyKing's E-OSD does)?

-If I connect my receiver's PPM output to the CC board, can the remaining 5 PWM inputs be re-purposed to create more outputs like the MultiWii?
