The stinger kit was posted today so should have it soon
What's the best way to install this fan as there is no locating pins or tabs?
Push fit with some double sided tape?
First EDF
Double sided tape works just fine and is easy to remove. Once the wing is on the fan can't go anywhere

Yeah I was going to try this way first to see how it holds up
Don't want a permanent fix with glue, plus tape is neater

Anyone put a clear coat of acrylic over the Stinger?
I've read the paint is bad, I don't want to lose the stock color scheme
Was thinking of sealing it some how with some kind of pressure pack acrylic clear

I just found this discussion and it has me excited to do some upgrades to my Stinger as well. My regular FPV plane is in the shop for maintenance so I strapped a camera to my Stinger yesterday. The plane responded well and actually settled down in flight but you could tell right away the extra weight was there on launch. Check this out and enjoy!!

I crashed mine last night, veered left and stuck in the ground, reading up on here I'm now confused.....
My 3s is pushed as far back as it will to get the CG correct (5mm behind the finger holes)..this is a stock setup, looking at the piccys on here and your packs are all fully forward?

It must be me so just to be sure I'm doing it right - draw a line 5mm behind the finger holes to the wings, turn it upside down and put my fingers on the lines, move pack as required..is this right?

I use a 2200mah 3s in the stock location in the nose and works fine.

As do I, my CG falls roughly in the middle of the finger holes, 5mm behind the finger holes sounds a lot to me like a recipe for disaster. It would put the CG roughly 20 mm behind where it's supposed to be. It would make the model extremely pitch sensitive and make it a real handful.

Yea I pushed mine forward but then had to rearrange stuff so ran out of time
to try it. Weather is crap for a while so I will have to wait to see if it's ok. Cheers guys.

Installed the fix gear on mine, have not flown it yet. My field has a hard surface runway.
Have 5-6 flights on mine, but not into hand launching it.

The CG on these things are a mystery, if you check other posting they are at different points.

Will set mine to the finger hold mid point and see how it works.

The temps in Okla are hitting upper 90s now, hopefully the ESC holds up. I updated to a 40Amp also.

How are you guys using 2200 batts?I tried to use some 2200's and it would crash at every hand launch.I can fly it with my 1600's no problem.I just ordered a new Stinger today as the first one was destroyed.I wish i could have found just the fuselage as the wings and tail wings are in perfect condition. The nose on the fuse has been repaired toooo many times.Guess i'll stick with the 1600's with this one.

push the 2200s further back. you are probably noseheavy... the planecan handlaunch easily..
it's something that you are doing wrong and not the plane.. most here are flyign with 2200 batts 3 and 4s

My handlaunches were a hit or miss with 3S.
I upgraded to 4S and it is so much easier now. I'm flying it with a 4S 1800, which is about the same weight as my 3S 2200.
If the plane rolls to one side upon launching, use the rudder to correct the roll. This is assuming you are flying mode 2 and launching with your right hand.
