HET 90mm Composite L-39 By Turbo Fan Electrics ~~VIDEO ADDED~~

Hello all HET just released their 90mm composite L-39 and we are going to do a build/flight review for everyone. The glass work is beautiful on this jet and apparently HET has been listening to everyones request as they used Epoxy in the construction and not heavy and brittle polyester resin! Below are the specs and a few pictures to get your L-39 juices flowing.

- Epoxy composite pre-painted fuselage and stabs
- Full intake/exhaust ducting with NO cheater holes
- Balsa foam sheeted wings
- Laser cut retract plywood mounts included
- Clear canopy
- Decal set
- Wing tip tanks included

- Wing Span : 1118 mm (44")
- Length : 1400 mm (55")
- Flying weight : 4000 grams

We plan on using a set of 90mm-120mm RC-Lander electric retracts and modifying them to accept the HET oleo struts. For anyone interested in this mod we will be selling RC-Lander electric retracts that will come ready to install with the HET oleo struts. More to come shortly.

best regards,

Super. Is the rudder precut? It was not on the prototype.

Hello Euan I'm just getting started on the build on the HET 90mm L39. Time will tell, but the finish on the glass seems to be nicely done.

Flemming the rudder is not pre-cut, but should be a easy modification.

best regards,

Their newer models really do step up the bar.
The HET L-39 went to together much like other well known companies here in the US. Maybe not quite as easy, but just a little extra brain power and elbow grease results in a beautifully flying model. The HET L-39 is currently my favorite EDF jet to fly.

Alright we start the build off with the fan mount install. Please take note that you don't want to mount the fan/motor assembly yet because the rudder/elevator wires need to be installed still.

Next we are going to move to the nose gear retract install. I've decided to use the Rc-Lander 90-120 electric retract units. Because of this the rail system needs to be modified as the Rc Lander retracts won't fit otherwise. Follow the pictures below and the modification is as simple as removing a few pieces of plywood and relocating them for clearance reasons. I will be fabricating a nose gear after the maiden flight, but for now I'm going to move on to the rudder assembly.

Like all of the HET jets the rudder needs to be cut and added. First thing on the list is to remove the rudder from the vertical stabilizer. Follow the steps below to achieve a workable rudder system.

No kidding!

Im working on my justification for the wife. But then I remember the old saying, sometimes it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to get permission
