Updated to DSMX x9503 and now 2 lockouts with AR6100e V1.2

I updated my 9503 at SEFF to DSMX and have now had 2 lockout.

Details:
*2 different receivers- both happened to be AR6100e's and both V1.2
*2 Different planes- 1 destroyed.
*1 when nobody else was flying.
*1 when 5 or 6 other planes were flying.
*In both cases, receiver was still on with LED lite and NOT blinking.
*Both planes were planes which I have a lot of flights on and NO changes had been made in a long time.
*Both planes had good battery voltage readings upon retreival.

ANY ideas or comments? Any similar experiences.

I love my JR and Spectrum radios but am curious if there is an issue with older firmware receivers.

Thank you for you thoughts.

Weren't the 6100's always a "problem" child. Despite the update to DSMX, your Tx would still be using the DSM2 protocol with these receivers.

Sorry to hear that others have had a similar issue.

Agreed. I still would not expect an issue in DSM2.

No. They are a reliable DSM2 park flier receiver provided they are upgraded to v1.6 firmware. This is an essential upgrade that overcomes the problem of delayed reconnect after a brownout in the power supply. No one should fly a v1.2 receiver. Horizon Hobby will do the upgrade free.

I had a similar experience. HH even replaced my DX8 (and included extra stuff for my trouble) and it didn't fix my issue. But then I found a thread about V1.2 from years ago and decided to switch out the receiver for a 6110. Problem solved. Oddly others have had troubles with V1.2 long before the DX8, but mine worked fine with my DX7 and only exhibited those issues with the DX8. It seems that the 6100 V1.2 issue is so old that most (even inside HH) have forgotten about it, so we all make the assumption that it must be the new transmitter.

Change to other brand radio. I changed long time ago.

There are many cheaper, superior Chinese brands like FrSky, Fly Dream, Turnigy etc.

That is not going to happen. I really like JR equipment. Just looking for answers.

That's correct but not the whole story. Version 1.2 didn't have either Quick Connect or Brownout Detection (blinking). Version 1.6 included both (there was a brief period when receivers were issued with Quick Connect but not Brownout Detection).

Actually that is the whole story on v1.2 They don't blink due to power loss.

But yes, v1.6 can have Quick Connect without brown out detection.
