the code is awesome because for the first time in multirotor history, it's in english and properly designed by people with a clue.

Hi titeuf007,
The OpenPilot project is still under active development and pre-release firmware is available currently. http://wiki.openpilot.org/display/BU...ware+Downloads
It is open source OpenPilot firmware that runs on a hardware abstraction they are calling PiOS. PC and MAC GCS software is available.
"PiOS (pronounced Pious) stands for PilotOS. It is the name given to the hardware abstraction layer that the OpenPilot firmware runs on. In basic terms, it is like a very lean operating system and the OpenPilot is the application that runs on top of this operating system." http://wiki.openpilot.org/display/Doc/PiOS
Besides the direct link posted above, here is a February RCG post by FredericG who is a beta tester: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1367452

Here is a recent video explaining OpenPilot:

Not sure where I seen it but the reason alot have not heard of OP is cus they are trying to lay low as the software is not perfected yet. This is the reason you do not see many vids that show a stable multi. They are alos not planning on GPS or any of the other goodies right away. I guess they are trying to avoid alot of people buying and saying its not what they expected.

I've been flying a couple of the CopterControl boards, and am very excited about the potential

As was mentioned, they want to take time to get the software ready before masses of people start buying the boards. At the moment, the software is almost ready for "alpha" release, so it's way too early to judge it yet, but if you're interested in being in on the early flight testing, it's hard to go wrong for the price. What they don't want is for people to buy it thinking the software is finalized, then being disappointed.

Also keep in mind that there's the CopterControl board that's out now, and later there will be the full main board, AHRS board, etc. My understanding is that the CopterControl board is not intended to have all the bells and whistles that the later board will have, but that's not necessarily bad.

There's a developers forum, but I tend to glaze over trying to read that stuff. The more interesting forum for users is the OpenPilot section of the multirotorforums site. I wonder if that link will work here...

My question is. it the copter control ready to be installed on a quad or tri. and with some adjustment can do what it is intended to do. also what mode does it come loaded with. X, + tri or hexa.

Rusty sums things up perfectly, I really can't add anything more and he explained it better than I could.

If you buy a CC now you are at the bleeding edge.

I do think this could be useful:
